Children's Inheritance
My husband died recently and left money (approx £8k each) for his niece & nephew (8 and 14 years old). I am to have control over this until they are 21. The money will be theirs at 21 however he had specified he wanted this to cover driving lessons, money towards a car or house if applicable before they reach 21. I do not…

The Top Fixed Interest Savings Discussion Area
I'm interested in people's thoughts and recommendations for the best fixed interest accounts. With BOE interests rates recently starting to increase we have to consider the desirability of long term fixed interest savings. Since withdrawals are usually not permitted before the end of the fixed period, such general interest…

Treasury Gilt vs Treasury Stock - difference(s)?
I've just noticed that most government bonds are issued as Treasury Gilt (e.g. TE28 - 4 3/8% Treasury Gilt 2028) but some are issued as Treasury Stock (e.g. TR38 - 4 3/4% Treasury Stock 2038), but I can't work out if there are any differences between how they work and underlying risks. Anyone with some info on this? Thanks…

SIPP investments during market upheaval
I've just opened a SIPP with AJ Bell. I did this mainly for tax reasons (sole company director), and NOT because I know what I'm doing with investments. I'm relatively comfortable with the general advice out there for portfolios, and I'm ready to push the button on a core holding in a tracker fund. However, the current…

Savings Goal
Morning all I have a savings gosl of £10k, been saving for a couple of years with BoS earning 2.72% monthly. I would rather stick with BoS as they are local and I can pay cash in when I need to. I also don't trust the online only accounts. Maths aint a strong point. Would it make a massive difference in a 5.50% monthly…

Nervous about using flexible ISA to maximise savings interest
Hello, I’ve been a self employed sole trader for approx 20 years. In that time I have been frugal and paid any spare funds into cash ISAs. I am now looking to wind up my business (since the pandemic it pays very little) and live off of the ISA interest. I want to put some of my ISA funds into a flex ISA and then withdraw…

Investment Planning
(moved from another board to here..) I hope this is the right place to ask for thoughts on how to plan my investments. Investing in uncertain times and diversifying
I was speaking with someone recently and they scared me with talk about the Iran war and everything happening globally. It made me panic sell my holdings, not at a loss, but I reduced my profit. I had over £300k in index funds. What do others invest in during times like this? I do want to start my own business eventually,…
