How to transfer a Hargeaves Lansdown SIPP to a Interactive Investor one?

Hi,

Does anyone know I would go about doing this, is it straightforward and how long does it take?

Thankyou,

Warmest Wishes,

You complete the transfer application at II. Both HL and II are not the quickest. So allow several weeks if a cash transfer and 4 weeks to 6 months if an in-specie transfer (reality is that inspecie is much quicker in most cases but sometimes niche funds can be sluggish).

You ask II to transfer-in your HL Sipp. On the fron pager of their website you will see an option to add a pension, If you dont already have an II account the first step will be to set one up - I think that will give you a GIA.. You can then transfer-in an HL SIPP as an II SIPP. The process is easy. II are responsible for making the transfer happen.

I recently moved from BestInvest to II as an existing II customer. The transfer took about a month from first request to the files being available to trade on II, possibly delayed by the need to fill in a special form because the pension had already been crystalised. I think the actual transfer was effectively instantaneous as I received interest from BestInvest due on the day of the transfer.

After the transfer had taken place there was ongoing correspondance for 3 months because the Pension Allowance data from a previous pension crystalisation had been lost after multiple provider take-overs before the pension was initially transferred to BestInvest. However this admin problem for II did not restrict my access to the SIPP in any way.

On the front page of the II website, there is a link/button that says 'Transfer to II '

    Click on that.

If you want to preserve your historic HL data, download all your statements and reports and keep them in a safe space.

I'm still in the process of transferring part of my ISA from HL to Ii. The shares and 3 of the funds moved over relatively painlessly in ~ 3 weeks ,including a "conversion" of one of the funds.

However there has been a hiatus in the process of nearly 4 weeks now ,with the final fund conversion not happening - Ii have messaged this morning ,to say that they are chasing up HL.

Also a fairly substantial amount of cash is sitting uninvested with HL - I understand that this will be the last thing to move over. Hindsight now, but should have put it into a fund offered by Ii a couple of months ago ready for transfer but didn't realise how (painfully)slow these processes are !

  • I found it also helps to message HL asking what the problem is with the final fund and when they expect to complete the transfer. If it gets too annoying just tell HL to sell the fund and transfer cash. Just remember to tell both HL and II so they both know!

You can also message HL to tell them to transfer the cash portion immediately rather than waiting for the fund transfers to complete.

Why only part of your ISA though?

Transfer completed this week - including cash & last remaining tax relief payment from HL.

    Overall happy with the process.
