The free internet has again been extended until 1st April. There is a poll on Giffgaff community forum of when or if ever, they will charge for data.
Also note, you don't have to buy a goodybag (which they tend to push), I'm just on payg with them and £10 lasts me for months with free calls to Giffgaff users (most of my friends),free internet and 0800 numbers .

Yes, I do the same. You can also use 18185 to get cheap calls to landlines etc.

    It isn't a con.

Your question makes no sense to me. Why 'or'? Do you mean that it is not a con only if there is a better deal elsewhere?

The only 'downside' is that come April it will drop back to 150 mins per month for £10.

But there will probably be another giffgaff labs deal that would complement it. Giffgaff is the only mobile company I know that will experiment with new package ideas to attract customers. Plus its not just the goodybags, you also benefit from free calls between giffgaff users and free callls to Free phone number.

    Hello,
Just wanted to share my recent experience of porting from Vodafone to Giffgaff, the whole experience was incredibly simple and well managed and both companies deserve a pat on the back. I contacted Vodafone on Fri 25/02 to request my PAC, on Mon 28/02 I recieved the PAC, and completed the form on the Giffgaff website, to request that the port took place on Mon 07/03. On 07/03 at about 11:30 my phone (with Vodafone sim in) stopped receiving signal, so I popped in my Giffgaff sim which immediately worked with my old Vodafone number.
Unfortunately I've discovered that Giffgaff reception in my area is utterly pants, so I have now requested my PAC from Giffgaff so that I can port back to Vodafone - we'll see if that is as simple :-)

Before you jump back, are you 100% sure that your 'area' doesn't have a good O2(GG Carrier) signal? I only ask as I talked one of my relaitves into moving to GG from Orange. They got no signal in her house which isn't too good(is it ever), turns out there was a 'panel alignment' problem with O2. Basically something was amiss with the mast that provided the cell coverage for my relatives house.
The fault was fixed and they've never looked back since!

Yes, pretty sure - I get an occasional 1 bar in the house, and 1 or 2 bars if I go into the garden. it's the same at my place of work (20 miles away), - I get no bars in my office at the front of the building, but 1 or 2 bars if I go to an office at the back of the building.

I'm going through the same porting process right now.

I'm at an odd stage though, my Voda SIM still works, and I can ring in & out from it fine. However my Giffgaff SIM half works as well. I can call out on it, and caller ID shows it as the ported in Voda number, but I have no way to ring it, as the original Giffgaff number is now dead, and the Voda number still goes to the Voda SIM :rotfl:

EDIT: Not anymore, everything goes to Giffgaff. Pretty painless then, was never incommunicado!
