O2's network in my area has gone from being v.good 3G to scrappy 3G and average 2G, so when my contract expires, I'm off to Vodafone sim-only for iPhone.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

Sorry something of a newbie here.
Anyway times are tough and I thought I'd share my latest experience of swapping network providers.
Anyway with the cost of just about everything going up I couldn't justify keeping my phone contract and it had just expired. So instead of upgrading I decided to swap to PAYG, after trawling through the sim deals I decided to go with GiffGaff.
I previously was paying £35 a month for 500 mins 600 text with 500mb data, although I didn't even use all this.
My sim card was free I top up £10 per month and get 250 mins Unlimited texts and Unlimited internet.
I also persuaded my other half to switch over and its free to call and text each other, even if we don't have any credit. :j
I was previously on o2 but giffgaff uses o2 so I still have the same level of signal :T
So if anyones looking to switch to PAYG to save some cash I'd definitely give a look!0 -

Another one who thinks giffgaff is fab:D
Myself and youngest 2 children are all on it , I put the £10 goodybag on each of our phones and it gives us 250 mins and unlimited txt and data, also free for us 3 to txt and call each other .My dd was on o2 before and vodafone before that and I felt like I was constantly topping up her blooming phone:mad:Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0 -

How easy to transfer number to GiffGaff. Is it worth to get £10 tariff to get real unlimited internet tariff.
Thanks0 -
1) Pretty easy: Transfer your number
2) Up to you. I think it's the lowest price for unlimited provided that you have good connection.0 -
It's very easy, I moved from Voda to them.
Provided PAC and number I wanted to keep on the Monday, was fully transferred around midday Wednesday. As for the value? I think it's great, else I'd not have moved over. You might want to look up O2's service in your area, their 3G coverage isn't to great in a lot of places.0 -
Transfer - simples. Once you have your PAC number raise the request with them and it should take 2 working days to complete. If you'll be using the internet a lot then yes definitely worth the £10 goody bag.
I moved from O2 to GiffGaff and am saving a fortune for exactly the same service. Already had 3 friends activate too which is £15 for me0 -
Hi all
GiffGaff list their web as unlimited, just wondering if this is correct or is it capped of at 500mb? (fair use policy)0
