The thing that bothers people is that many posters place a halo around GiffGaff
Cannot say i saw any of that before i decide to join .
Halo wise that is recommends yes on price out of this world service no . But it is a noticable that there are one or two posts that can best be described as ANTI GIFFGAFF . All the networks have troubles most of the highly dissatisfied posters on here are for the main networks .
But yes the referral points is a double edged sword in that some will just use the posts to try and make money for themselves and other users of this money saving forum .
Personally i am more than happy with my new GiffGaff service . I did not sign up for free internet as it was flagged as charged from 4th April but those charges would save me high over data usage bills compared to my existing network . Other charges where money saving for me and to date without data use i have saved about 70% . Took me nearly a year to decide on GiffGaff as i followed posts on the forum to get a feel for what i was joining .

I'm also a happy giffgaffer. It hasn't been without its teething problems.
1) Porting my number over took a while and people weren't able to call it for nearly 24 hours.
2) The day they started charging for data, I couldn't get access to data for nearly 24 hours. Apparently the problems was a change made by o2, but o2 didn't want to fix it till the following midnight, since the change wasn't affecting their contract customers only the virtual operators on o2 network. After midnight it was fine and has been working fine since for me.
3) Due to the O2 network you dont get a sms reciept unless you prefix your message with some strange sequence. Its a o2 problem since I have it on my work o2 contract phone also.
They are my only griipes. On the good side however I've earned more than £10 of credit in 6months from very mild use of their forum. Also I can use 18185 to make international calls and landline calls.0 -
For an unbiased view of GiffGaff, head over to their forum, and read about their latest data speed problems. It's a cheap service but in my experience, continually floored.0

Totally agree - People need to get a balanced view of the network and this forum is not the place for that as everyone is desperate for you to apply for a SIM via their refferal links - Their own official forum paints a VERY different picture to what some people on here would have us believe!:dance:Quidco Payments In 2011 - £724.21

Anyway, spelling police aside both my son, daughter and my daughters boyfriend use GiffGaff and for £10pm on PAYG there is no comparable service available from any of the other providers. 250 minutes of talktime to landlines or mobiles, unlimited talktime between GiffGaff customers and then the unlimited internet and texts.
I'm sure that some will have had problems but in my neck of the woods it's a deal that's unbeatable. The only reason I'm not on it is because I'm on contract with Orange and need to use my inclusive stuff to make it pay but I'll certainly be switching at contract end if the experience of my siblings is anything to go by.0 -
For an unbiased view of GiffGaff,
Unbiased view based upon a problem over the last ten days ???

giffgaff don't have a telephone support line of any kind, so the forums are rammed full of people asking basic basic questions... "MY INTERNET IS DOWN!!!" > have you checked all the settings... "Solved" - I'd like to see the forums better organised or laid out as there are >250k posts and many repetitions. But without dedicated support phone, it's always going to be that way.
No network is perfect and IMO but you can't argue with the price. It was my mates that introduced me to gg, mostly all students who are VERY appreciative of the price and unlimited data.
As to - "continually floored" that is bull mate... My Desire HD 3G has never been "continually floored" in the months I’ve been with them... So that is unhelpful.
... As a disclaimer to my post here, I am in no way trying to promote any referral to me or any cr*p like that, It's just I have had only good experiences with these guys and cannot fathom why more people aren't using this network rather than being bled for £35+ a month into Telefonica, or Voda group. And there seems to be a real distain for giffgaff by some.0 -
On the subject of GiffGaff, I noticed this morning that they are advertising for a "Customer Service Manager". Among the details of the position there is stated a "desire" that applicants should have experience of "working with foreign-based call centres, preferably India". Could it be that they are about to change their business model? If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

I know the porting process work has already been outsourced to india.0 -

The data speeds is a known issue (Notice Board Section). There you'll also come across last month's Goodybag port issue which stopped me and thousands of others making calls for 2 days, or we could go back to March and the 4 day text issue, were texts were coming back as unsent, but some made it and some didn't, which made it literally impossible to confidently use that service.
It's looking like the honeymoon period is over, and as the complaints mount, GiffGaff will realise it can't just survive on blaming O2 for all the technical issues, people recommending it to their friends (for their own gain) or others that just simply like the concept.0
