thanks for the replies, so does that mean if i get the £5 goody bag, the 20p a day would be taken from that £5? or is it just £5 for the goodybag?

    thanks

It is £5 for the goodybag & the internet charges would come from your airtime balance. You would need some to go online.

That seems ok but hey Giffgaff trying a new formula that may help change the market for the better or it may just fade away is subject to an amost hate campaign from some posters . That really defeats the object of this forum that stated out to save people money .

I'm all for people saving as much money as possible but im also all for people having facts and being able to make an informed decision rather than reading post after post on here about how glorious GiffGaff is which i believed until i read their official forum - Major outages, No data connections for 24+ hours, Text messages not being received until 4-5 hours after originally being sent!

GiffgGaff might be the greatest thing ever but a balanced view is always good.

A balanced view can only come from users not from a non user that just reads the forum . If you read comments on here re mobile phone networks and sales nobody would use a mobile phone .

Of course one of the problems is the £5 signing up fee that is going to lead to what is no more than spam .
But if this forum woke up one morning and said hey lets start a virtual mobile network i guess it would have a similar ethos and model .

A number of long term users come on the site and recommend a service they are happy with . Versus a non user who just reads the forum . I know who i would trust .

Fair enough. I can only report on my own personal experience (8 months with GiffGaff) and I've really not had any major issues. All networks have problems at some point, I seem to recall Vodafone suffered a major outage just a couple of months ago.

As a very light user I have been very pleased with giffgaff.
£10 credit has lasted me for months with approx £4 remaining. I only send the odd text and make few phone calls. I also access the internet now and again.
I changed as their rates were much cheaper than vodafone.

I've got their £5 card and registered but haven't topped up yet. Is it easy to set up on the OSF?
