thinking of moving to giffgaff when my iphone 5 arrives, but both of those things seem to be hit and miss at the moment. I've checked 02's internet and service coverage and it would seem to be good in the areas I live in, why would people advise against it?

i would say go for it as im with them and have never ever had any problems and also you can earn payback every month by helping out on the forums.

so you could well get back as payback what you top up each month.

best network in my eyes

Well I used them for a while before transferring to Ovivo.

I found GG payback to be derisory. If you spend about 10 hours a month giving helpful advice to people, then you would be very lucky to get £10 credit. This corresponds to less than £1 per hour! No thanks.

However I did notice that most answers on the GG forums were junk answers such as "ask an agent" or else people just did a copy and paste of the previous answer.

Junk answers take a second or two, where as helpful answers may take a minute or more. So it may be that I followed the wrong tactic and could have got £10 credit in 10 minutes if I just put in junk replies.

Not saying that this is what you did, but the fact that most people seemed to do this probably indicates that this is the optimal approach to getting payback.

I found the forums stuffed with junk answers rather depressing so I gave up in the end.

Yup GG was a good concept but is now tired. A decent CEO at the helm needs to give it a blast-through, or goodbye.
I am also an ex-GG user.

I actually had my first ever real 'problem' recently with GG when it looked like I had been double charged, hearing the reputation for customer service from others I was pleasantly surprised to get a very rapid response from a ticket raised with an agent (within a couple of hours) and the responses continued quickly and it was resolved (just a glitch in the notification system as it happens).

However.... I was inconvenienced (albeit only in a minor way) by what was their error yet in none of their communications was there the word 'sorry' or any sort of apology, in fact the tone of their emails was was quite terse.

I will be raising it in the feedback email.

No one Network is perfect but considering the issues so many people have with the Big Networks, GG is the best by far.

We have been with them for years now and I cant see us changing.

We all know Herongull does not like GG :)

True, I just wish my wife would change her flaming voicemail from the default GG one, that chirpy northern sounding bloke they use is so annoying..

"aye up your through to GiffGaff voicemail me old duck, leave a message and I will pass it on once I have walked me whippet and had an Eccles cake"

    or something like that...

GG does have its advantages as they allow you unlike the large majority of other suppliers to call freephone numbers at no extra charge.

Therefore you can use some other suppliers to make cheaper calls. Eg http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php

    http://www.telesave.co.uk/athome/national.htm

    and http://savacallmobile.com/

    LOL
You've quoted something like Yorkshire with a hint of Derbyshire...the GG VM voice is much further north east. Deffo Sunderland or Newcastle.
To be honest, I think its nice to hear a regional accent instead of the bland southern accents that we usually get with all things like this.
But of course I'm biased because it's my regional accent ;)

    Haha!

Well I can hardly be sniffy I suppose, there is more than a hint of Black Country around this house. Bostin!
