You know, it was only when I read this thread that I realised whenever we go away to a new town or city on holiday we always go to have a look round the museums, cathedral, parks, etc. But I have never had a look round the museums in my home town. I wonder how many more of us are like this?

Ha ha, this struck a chord with me! I lived in London for 15 years...only got round to visiting the Tower of London for the first time the weekend before I left England...Mind you I have English friends who have never visited it, even though they are London born and bred.

tell me about quick... we were the first viewing for the house ever... and our time was 2pm... there was already someone else waiting outside to view aswell but as one their "party" was missing we went in first.. estate agent was lovely and said to move quickly (after negotiating flooring throughout as some the floors are bare atm and trying to get a £25 a week drop in rent with the landlord - which was unsuccessful unfortunetly) He said if i really wanted it get to the office straight away.. my viewing was 2pm.. i got in at 1:50pm.. by 2:05pm i was in a cab ringing the estate agents who where about 3 miles away confirming i was on my way to fill out my application and NOT to give it to anyone else. lol

This is a 2 bedroom, 2 reception rooms, terrace house in a semi-run down ish area of liverpool... its £425 a month rent! So things will be very tight... but it will be worth it.

Im really pleased for you! Our budget for two of us is around £600pcm, but it isnt going to get us much space, but hopefully we are going to go with a private landlord which will be cheaper than with an agents - we both have student loans and overdrafts to pay off so we have to stay cheap!

Anyway - it sounds like you have yourself a place anyway - if you dont have loads of furniture (and if it is unfurnished) then register with your local freecycle - it will have plenty of bits you can pick up and replace as time goes on!

Well Ive been up since 4.30am just unable to sleep with the pain from my FMS & Lupus  Will have to catch up later :o Have the lady coming from Direct Payments at 10am to explain how it all works etc and hopefully will be in place very soon.

Have stuck a washload in and dishwasher on-so this will be done by time OH & DS get out their pits :D Have another 3 wash loads to do. OH didnt get windows done yesterday so promised they would get done today :p All floors downstairs need a good sweep and everything pulled out and washed-hopefully OH will be up to it. Also cleaned the downstairs loo. Will do our 20min blitz when we're all up.

Going to have breaded cod, pots & veg for lunch today. Tea will be a jacket spud with butter, ham/cheese and salad. Determind not to buy any food till our next delivery from Asda (which is a week sunday)managed to find a £10 voucher code on a £50 shop-so about 2 weeks food there plus some condiments we were running out of. This week have bought only milk, potatoes and bread  Last 4 weeks have saved £125 on groceries/petrol so thats been moved to the "conservatory" fund :T Been eating from the freezer and still loads left

Anyway, Im still on bedrest and today once Ive done my delegating of jobs..lol, I may watch a film-managed to hire Anne of greengables(for free of course!)havent seen this in over 15 years-im 30 now

Makros have some great offers on too, but not feeling up to going-so OH wont mind going over with a list of bits to get. Good offers on their kitchen roll, sugar, 200 dishwashing tabs for £6.00 and a few more bits!

    Have a great day!

  • Morning all! My you were up early PP, sorry to hear you srent feeling n top form -amazing how konwing you have saved so much money can pick up the spiritis though - I know it does mine!

Manahed not to do anything much last night after the several days mass cooking I had on earlier in the week - tea was spag bol sauce from the freezer and chips for OH and 98% fat free noodles for me. I did make myself some pasta with spicy chilli sauce and veg though for today's and tomorrow's dinner - looks lush! Tea tonight is sausage (regular for OH and low fat for me), smash, peas fand gravy.

We too are trying not to spend anything until pay day - easy as we dont have anything he he! I have £60 in cash and OH needs £64 next week for the train so will have to raid the piggy bank! I have £4 of luncheon vouchers won from filling in a questionnaire online so will use those for any bits of milk, potatoes etc we need before 15th. Wish us luck he he!

    Hi Old Stylers,

Feel like a bit of a fraud posting on here this week as I'm on holiday with OH and TBH haven't been all that old style at all.

However yesterday went to Tescos in evening and got a lovely bunch of flowers reduced from £3.99 to 30p, they look lovely in living room.

Today I have to do some prep work for my slimming class tonight.

The house is still pretty clean so doesn't need much doing, I guess I'll have to just relax for once and accept I don't need to go running around cleaning but it feels weird!

    Have a good day,
    sarah

:D I'm feeling quite proud cos I managed to cut £75 off our monthly shopping bill! Combination of not buying junk food for OH (he thinks being Scottish is an excuse not to eat veg), Asda voucher and stringent meal planning! Also, all dairy was organic - fresh food from local shops from now on! Who'da thunk it eh?

Btw, do you still need a membership card for makro? If so, how do you get one?

I sympathise, Johanne. It's going a bit mad everywhere. Cornwall's crazy. My brother can't afford to move back from Norwich to rent. There are lots of one bedroom flats in my town for over £500 a month. Mine is £410, two levels, large kitchen and lounge, one bedroom and bathroom. It's a fantastic deal, really, as I have a whole garden to myself, and gas and water are included. But the place is totally falling apart, and the damp problem is increasing (I never used to notice it). It was only £375 until recently. Problem is, I feel I have to keep my head down and not ask for too many expensive things, because if they hiked the rent up to £500, I couldn't appeal, because that would be the going rate in the area...grrr!! I'm sure one day I'm be priced out of my own town!! And there's no hope of buying when me salary is £16K and the cheapest basement flat is about £96K!!! Ha!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, great news that you got the place! It does sound lovely.
