Morning all.
Had a !!!!!! day yesterday so didn't come here. Spent Monday doing my dad's garden while he is in hospital - at least when I went yesterday he'd already been told his garden was looking lovely. Then had to clean the house too. Then home to do mine. Also DS2'sbody clock is all out of kilter so he's not going to sleep till after 9pm - and it's a pain when they won't even stay in their room but keep coming down
So, yesterday, I was a like a bear with a sore head - DS2 is permanently over tired, as am I. I suddenly (?) realised that I NEVER go out - I've been to the pics once with a couple of girlfriends this year and I think that was in about Feb!! Mr TM is out doing his hobbies etc all the bl00dy time and yesterday I got really wracked off about it. It culminated in me going ballistic at DS2 because he was really winding me up - he cried then I lost it and became that sobbing wreck in the corner - with a 3yo wiping my tears and hugging meThere's got to be more to my life than being a penny pinching OSer - much as I enjoy it - but I want some fun, as an adult and without doing kid things or housework/cooking or DIY all the time.) I need some ME time and I never get it. AND Mr TM and DS1 come home from Ireland tonight but Mr TM is away for 10 days from tomorrow (hobby) so I may manage a 2 hour window to get my hair cut!! (I have yet to work out how much he spent over there, but it will be a lot cos he forks out for everything cos MIL is sooooo tight) I hven't even been to look for my summer hols clothes, I don't know what will fit and we go away in a fortnight. Hmmm - that'll be fun, clothes shopping with 2 kids in tow - not
Oh well, rant over - I feel better nowI had my BM on over night so I've just had a huge slice of toast and honey with my :coffee: Yesterday I made a lovely lamb and veg curry, so had that for tea and supper - yum. Done LOADS of ironing this morning (couldn't be bothered last night) and need to put it all away now, clean main bathroom and hoover round. Oh, and lots of hand washing up to do - all those big pans, bowls and crock pot! Then as I've to go to Liverpool airport about 7pm to meet flight, may go early and go to the retail parks in Warrington (Ikea, Next, Boots)
It's cold and miserable here today, so not much chance of washing out or spending the day sauntering around in the sunshine
Right, off to catch up on the boards. I shall update the get together board with the 'final' plans too.
See ya later

Oh Ticklemouse, I really feel for you. I'm not in the same situation, but I can quite see how easily we can lose track of ourselves in a family situation. You're so much to so many people, and I always think that as time goes on, we just get used to time being swallowed up by other people and jobs / duties. It's only when you reflect, as you have done, that you start to see how little "You" / "Me" time there is in your life.
I don't know what to suggest appart from talking to Mr TM and finding a way to spread the free time more fairly between the two of you. Do you think he would be understanding of that? Perhaps if you make some plans for time to yourself or with friends, giving notice to Mr TM, you might be able to establish some sort of routine of time to yourself. I find that if you don't demand time and make time for yourself, other people won't suggest that you do. They just get used to you not taking time for yourself.
This is probably no help whatsoever. But I think it's so important to retain a sense of self when you're married with children. Just because later on so many women feel dreadful when the children leave home, because they can't remember who they were. Very easy for me to say, with no husband or children, but I've seen it in friends and relatives over the years. Why is it so often men who manage to keep up their pre-family identities?!!0 -

Hi Jo, this sounds great! I hope you enjoy the Roman Baths. I have been there twice in my life and found it lovely! There's also an open-top bus around Bath that I did once, feeling very touristy, and that was quite nice, too, just getting that perspective on it.
It's so nice to route out the places nearby that can be fun to visit. My boyfriend and I are making the most of places on our doorstep, being without a car for the forseeable. It's reassuring how many wonderful places there are to see!0 -
You know, it was only when I read this thread that I realised whenever we go away to a new town or city on holiday we always go to have a look round the museums, cathedral, parks, etc. But I have never had a look round the museums in my home town. I wonder how many more of us are like this?

So true - I was at Uni in Norwich for three years and never went to the cathedral! I have since. Shocking really!0 -

Always remember to check your local councils's (or that of the attraction you're visiting)'s website, as, particularly at this time of year, they have free open day schemes and museum events. I memorably, while still living in Glasgow, took a spontaneous notion to visit Berwick for the day, and found out it was the tricentenary of the union on the crowns, complete with hog roast, war engine etc. Problem was, I'd missed the last train! Bah - there'll be another one in 300 years!!!!0
