I had a message on my online account telling me that I was eligible for an upgrade in July. This has now changed to "call us on xxxxxxxxxxxxx to see if you are eligible for an ungrade". Would I be offered a good deal now?

You will be offered the best deals when you are in the final month of your contract or afterwards

    How much per month?

Sorry £5 pm completely forgot to put that :silenced: oh and free booster as is the norm. So in total I'm paying a tenner a month for the right amount of text and mins for the people that use it. Its the one time I hate renewals, if it was for myself I'd be eager. But my mother tends to stick with mobiles for some lengths of time.
  • Soon I'm planning to call up T-Mobile about my contract, I find that its way too expensive (£40 a month for £350 worth of credit) of which I could find better deals many other places. When trying to haggle, what can you get from it? Could you persuade them into getting a new handset for you aswell as a cheaper contract? I would really like an iPhone (but they don't do it). My contracts nearly about to end so thought this was the best time to haggle too. I'm new to haggling also, so any tips would help, cheers:T:beer:

  • You should try haggling but before you do look at all the other deals available and make sure you know what phone you want and how much it would cost elsewhere. I tried a couple of weeks ago to get an upgrade but ended up just moving to another network as it was a lot cheaper and I got a fabby phone into the bargain (virgin). They are very stingy on the upmarket phones (htc hd2, nokia x6 etc) but I have read on these forums that if you threaten to leave because you want an iphone they are able to offer this through a third party company though I don't know what kind of deal you would get. Check out all the other offers before you phone and don't accept their first deal, unless it's a cracker of course! Good luck!
  • thanks, wattywattwatt...anyone else?

First of all, know what you want and stick by your guns.... if you pay £40 per month, you have a lot of haggling power.

iPhone, don't expect a good deal, as Apple fix the handset prices.

My Gf is on Orange and pays £35 pm, also goes over her bills every so often. So far we've been offered amotorola milestone free, unlmtd texts, 500mb net and 200 xnet mins for £30 pm, that was from e2 save.

Orange retentions offered us BB9700 £20 pm, 600 mins, unlmtd texts and bb bundle.

    Both 18 month.

You don't have to haggle directly through the retentions department, you can also go to outside companies, e2 save, phoneboxmobiles, phones 4 u... there are many. Always ring up and lie - say you were offere x deal somewhere and want to know what they can do for you.

There's an article on this site you should read
  • thanks for that, im just unsure about whether they will do the iPhone for me??
