T-Mobile Retentions

I'm due my upgrade today and I went into CPW to see what they could do. They upped my phone allowance to '£199.99' so that I could get a Sony Ericsson C905 or Nokia 5800 for free. However, I want to downgrade my package as I hardly use the £80 allowance on my Flext 25 + W&W. Bloke in CPW said it would be difficult to get them to downgrade my tariff and give me a nice new phone.
So, should I try my luck and call 150 and see what they will do or do I move to a different provider?
I was looking at Combi 20 + either of the above phones for free (and maybe free W&W). I want to get my phone from CPW as their phones are 'unlocked'. They also have better customer service as T-mobile shop ignored me in BOTH shops that I went into. I might consider P4U but are their phones unlocked?
Its not necessarily true that you can't get a nice new phone when downgrading your package. I would definitely call 150 and explain your situation because they're the upgrade experts and have more ability than CPW to renew you with what you really want and need.
Let us know how you get on0 -
I have re-contacted T-Mobile upgrades after purchasing the T-mobile G1 as an upgrade and returning the handset due to the poor battery life.
They have now offered me my tariff - Advantage plan discount 50% off Flext 35 with free web n walk (£17.50 a month) with Nokia 6600 slide for £15 and free delivery! I think thats quite a good deal so very happy!
Great deal MOPI. Shame you returned the G1 - I've had mine for ages and battery life was a problem to begin with but there are many ways you can manage that and my battery now lasts for 2 days or more!
Having said that, 6600s is a good deal - enjoy!0 -
The best deal T-Mobile could give me was £5pm off my £32.50 tariff and a free 5800. So 28th June will be my PAC request day (as they charge before contract end date) and I will take my custom elsewhere.
Hi SootSoot - sorry didn't see your response. Did you mention that you wanted to downgrade your tariff rather than just money-off your current tariff?0 -

Hi Rosehip,
I did say I wanted to get down to £25 which would include w&w and the woman said that the tarriff I'm on is the best to be on and they would take off £5 pm. I asked for them to take off an extra £2.50pm as 3 are doing the C905 free + 200talk mins unltd texts and unltd net for £25pm. T-mobile replied with no. I have had about 6 missed calls from their 0845 number this week though0 -
Hello everyone. I'm new to these forums.
I have been with T-mobile for around 8 years. I got my current two contracts (both Flext 35) 3 years ago. For the first 18 months I was paying £26.25 instead of £35 because of a 25% discount that was "for life".
I upgraded after the 18 months and decided to get a discount on my line-rental rather than get a new phone. My line-rental was reduced to £11 a month for each contract.
I am now due for an upgrade again. I want to get the N96 now but I've been told that the only way I can get that for free is moving to the Flext 40 contract. That offer is available online to new customers anyway and I would have thought that I would be entitled to more of a discount for being with them for so long. Also, my bills are always twice my line-rental.
The lady I spoke to kept saying that that is the only way I could get the N96 for free. (Initially she told me that I would need to pay £160 for the phone but when I told her that it was for free on the website she said I could have it for free!)
The other thing is that when I sign onto the T-mobile website it says that I can get £5 off my line-rental if I didn't want a new phone. I thought that meant that I would get another £5 off the £11 I was paying, but when I asked about that she said that it would replace the 25% discount that I had at the start of my contract.
That sounds ridiculous. From paying just £11 a month I would end up paying £30 (with the £5 discount replacing the 25% discount).
I don't know if who I was talking to was the retentions department or just a normal operator. When she answered the phone she said I was thorough to "loyalty". Is that the retentions department?
Any advice on how to get a better contract will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.0 -
have you thought about getting these handsets from an alternative source because you have such a good discount?0

I wouldn't mind moving onto Flext 40 because that includes free 0800 and 0845 numbers as well as international calls, whereas my current Flext 35 doesn't. That is one of the reasons my bills are always twice my line-rental.
But I don't want to pay £40 a month when I'm paying £11. Or at least I was until last month. The lady I spoke to said that it would go back up to £25 as my 18 months were over.
Is that right? I thought that I would continue to pay my reduced line-rental of £11 after my 18 months were over.0 -
I'd try phoning at the end of the month, they may be trying to meet sales targets and offer you something better.
Do question the the for life discount with them, sounds unfair to lose it when you upgrade.0 -
When I rang to give T Mobile 30 day notice nice chap tried to make me a deal. I currently pay £20 for £40 worth of calls/text (I went via Quidco & Dialaphone so only actually paid £6 per month). I wanted unlimited texts for DD and 300 mins as I could get this from vodafone for £15 pm with a Samsung Tocco.
He offered me a sim only deal with 200 mins and unlimited texts for £15 per month. I said no and he said to ring back nearer the end of my contract. So I rang yesterday for my PAC number and was just given it, no offer made.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

hi
iv bin with tmobile for the last 3 years on flext 35. i initially had a discounted rate to about £24. When my 18 months was over I got another discount as I didnt take out a phone to £17 a month. Last month this just ran out and I was charged at £26. i have tried to negotiate with them, but they are refusing to lower the rate even i do not take out a fone. they are pointing me to their deal of 800 mins and unlimited texts with a fone for £25. this is the same as their website for all nexw customers.
they will not budge and when i sed i wanted to cancel, they just sed ok and started the proceedings. i had to stop them and sed give me time to think. I have spoken to 2 different people in the loyalty dept who have both sed the same thing. They say they cant offer any more discounts now.
Im a bit stuck as I dnt know wot to do now. £25 a month is too much for me. Any advice as to how I can negotiate some more off?
thanks
