Just got off the phone to t mobile and all the plans have changed, no money off line rental for flext plans just a pre paid credit card with 100 pounds to spend on it.
Nearly £200 and loads of minutes down on deal offered last month for the 5800 but asked to call back as out of stock.
flex 35 is no longer available to new customers, but is for upgrades. Still losing out on 90quid without the discounts
can offer discount based on previous bills, on the combi plans, but as of april the 1st has NO PRICE MATCH POLICY IN PLACE.
There are 18-24 mth low end contracts without the phone.
200 min 200tx 18mth £10 per month
100 min 100tx 18mth £4 per mth
150 min unltd tx 24mth £4 per mth
The bonus with this is, you can upgrade to a new contratct with phone and start new contract with them AT ANY TIME in contract period.
There inclusive minutes now include all 08 (0845 0870 0844 i remember) numbers except freephone (huh).
I hope that this stops anyone wasting as much time as i have on this.

Then decided finally on the Nokia 5800, so rang and asked for the PAC in the hope of a better deal. The woman said it would cost £25 unless I rang back at the end of the month - not even trying to offer me anything!
So rang back straight away and asked to hear about the first deals again, and the next man rudely said 'You've phoned quite a lot today, why is that?' To which I answered 'I was offered a lot of different things and wanted to think about them a bit more'. Then I asked about the 5800, quoting an Orange AND T-Mobile Combi deal which was much better than the Flext, and he said 'Well, if you want to go, no problem' and wouldn't budge!
So, hints for future hagglers- don't ring them up loads in one day! They obviously think I'm trying it on (which, ok, I am - but I could genuinely have been wanting to think about the deals too!). I smiled throughout and was pleasant and friendly, but they wouldn't shift. So I'm decamping to Orange via mobiles.co.uk at the end of the month, the last man was so rude I don't want anything more to do with them!
They would of had better details at the end of the month. It is not the operator who controls what you can and can not have, it is the system. The system at the end of month may have offered better deals, perhaps so they meet their quota. Although it may not have been what you wanted to hear, the operator who said phone at end of month was giving you a tip off.
However defection may not be a too bad thing. The networks are preparing for better loyalty deals but only o2 really has something going on. Perhaps all the defection will make the sales departments rise better to the challenge.0 -
On T-mobile systems each customer is allocated a CLC (Customer Lifetime Contribution) code, basicly tells the operator what the customer can get based on spend/bills/calls made ect.0

My 18 month flext 35 ends 29/04/09 too. I get £9 month loyalty discount which I've had for a number of years, last time managed to get Nokia 6300 at renewal. Fancy a smart phone with GPS for the odd time I get lost.I like the look of the 5800 as an alternative to iphone or even the N79 which has FM transmitter so I could play my mp3's through car radio, I also don't want something that is huge.
On the other hand may even wait for the new iphone(due in June) & defect to O2.
If I do nothing before 29th do they then remove the loyalty on the contract & I pay the full £35 on my current plan?
If so is it best to go to the Solo 15, 30 day contract & start a new contract if I see a better deal elsewhere or haggle on a new deal?
N79 & 5800 opinions would also be valued.

As sporedude said, the system looks at your CLC which is currently based on the last three months spend. If you downgrade to Solo15 you would be spending less which means your deals won't be as good.
With regard to your loyalty discount, you need to phone and ask because some loyalty ones terminate at the end of contract and some may not.
Personally I'd wait until a couple of days before 29th and then make your decision whether to move or not. The deals will be on the table with t-mobile and you can make an informed choice whether you want a special iphone deal or not.
A lot of people phone up continously before end of month, I'd just put the whole offer hunt on hold until a few days before and then decide.
Remember the new flext plans from flext40 include free wnw data and your allowance includes voicemail, international calling and calls to 08x numbers.0 -

Yes, I can relate to that. I was after a free G1 and phoned a couple of times with no joy. A few days before my upgrade was due, my mobile rang and it was T-Mobile wanting to discuss my options. I got exactly the phone and tarriff I wanted and also a £30 credit in lieu of an 8Gb memory card.Hark at you going all strict0 -

There's no requirement to do anything. Your existing contract will roll on without any action on your part. In the current climate, tying yourself down to a new 18 or 24 month contract simply for a 'new' phone is is a false economy. You are locked in and they won't allow you to drop down tariffs should your circumstances change.
If you buy your own replacement handset there is no lock in, and you can terminate with just 30 days notice. Yet forums are littered with folk who have had their credit files wrecked because of a change in circumstances. If your crystal ball is working - take the risk, but it's a tempting fate and not worth the risk,0 -
Go through to retentions after saying you want to leave. See what deals are on offer and then go away and think about it.
Consider Buzby's view that there are "sim only" contracts available on all networks including t-mobile that are 30 day notice contracts. You generally get 4x the mins and texts for the money when not taking out a new phone. If you want a top phone then a 12/18 contract may be a way forward, if you want a mid range phone or happy with existing/low end phone, consider sim only.

My contract with T Mobile is due for renewal shortly. I followed Martin's advice, in his article on 'battering down' your mobile phone company and I rang them today, spoke to their 'retention' department, and got the following deal: a free Nokia 5800 handset (top of the range, just-out touch screen phone with GPS and heaven knows what else!, 5 star rating on various tech-y mobile phone review sites!) to replace my current phone, 700 minutes, 400 texts, for £20 a month.
I had done my research first (see Martin's advice on bettering your current deal at renewal and the comparison sites he mentions) and knew what their competitors were offering and which phone(s) to ask for. I'd recommend doing the same and, armed with this information and a politely demanding telephone style, you could probably do just as well.
