  • I've been a T Mobile customer for 8+ years but am on the verge of leaving. I phoned the retentions number two days ago as I am now in last month of my 18 month contract. I am currently paying £31 per month for 300 mins, 500mb data + unlimited texts but I don't need this much so was looking to downgrade to a sim only tariff of around 100 mins, 500 mb + texts. All T Mobile could offer was a tariff of £14 per month - more expensive than one advertised on their own website. I pointed out I could get an Orange Panther 12 month sim only deal for £10.50 per month or move to Giff Gaff @ £10 per month and unless they could match this I'd probably have to move network. I pointed out Orange are part of the same group. T Mobile wouldn't budge! Phoned again today to request PAC code. No effort to try to persuade me to stay - dealt with PAC code request efficiently. Is it just me? I'm puzzled that as a company they are content to simply lose my custom. Oh well I'll hold fire for a week and then start the process of getting a new contract...I see that if I go through top cash back I can get a 12 month sim contract from Orange with c£35 cash back so that looks a good deal to me!
  • Hi Ceeebee
I had a similar one, but last time I renewed they gave me a loyalty discount, of approx 12 I think.
If youre not fussed about a new phone, try and ask for this, and maybe if you "increase" your usage, they may be able to give you a deal from which they can discount. I hope that makes sense!
Seems to be hit and miss I think, but was told t mob and orange are now sharing the same call centre staff, just their phones flash up with whichever provider you call from, and also their systems are all over the place, hence the long wait on hold and In store being reluctant to upgrade.

Try the leaving option if you still have the will, there are some good deals,
I've been with them since one to one days
    , and got lucky.
    Good luck x

    Hi
Almost renewal time, broken phone for a few weeks so decided to bite the bullet and go for early upgrade, as only 2 months remaining of existing contract at 7.50 per month.
First call to retentions offered a Samsung s3 @ c36 per month, so time to look elsewhere.
Online checks found best at Cpw or phones4u with orange at 26 per month.

Called the do you want to leave number, and was offered two handsets had been looking at:
    300 mins
    Unltd texts
    250 mb
    Samsung s3 @59, or Sony Xperia 10@ 49
    26 per month
Went to Cpw to see if they could better, said no, so called back.
    So glad I did!

Choice of either handsets for 19
    600 mins
    Unlit texts
    750 mb
    20 per month
Also for 18 months not 24!!!!
I did cheekily ask if he could reduce the costs, and the kind guy on the phone reduced from 24 per month, and 39 to above - so me happy!

Also considered buying handset (cheapest I found was 450), and keeping 7.50 tariff but worked out more expensive.

However.... He did mention that some tariffs may change at the end of the month, with the EE change, so am keeping my fingers crossed. He said as I have this tariff, it will stick. I hope so ...

Thats a good deal. Was this for the 3g SIII or the LTE version?

    Good luck!
I went for the Upgrades section first, got absolutely nothing, and was told that the deals online are the best they can do.

Then left it a couple of days and did some research,

Called back late afternoon - go for the "i Want to leave" option - and just be polite, smile as if you are talking face to face, respect them as having a job to do, etc.

Polite along the - Thinking of leaving, but dont want to as good service etc, is there anything you can do to help?? -

    Happy hunting :)

PS not sure about stock of S3, from what I remember they may have been a short wait, but not totally sure.
If I had 4g here, and it was available, I would have probs been in a tizzy!
  • i am after the Galaxy note 2, my contract ran out sept and i have 2 lines with them. 100mins/100text unlimited data + text booster £26 p/m & 100 mins/100 texts/unlimited for £13.50 p/m

First quote i received via chat was same plan as moment but with £150 upfront one off fee, then spoke to customer services to cancel and was quoted £31 p/m (no mention of what I'd get) + £169 upfront or £36 full monty with £129 upfront,

    Also on 2nd line, 300 mins/unlimited texts/unlimited net £10 p/m sim only.

Declined and requested pac, not heard anything else yet but holding out on a price match with an offer from buymobilephones so will see !

  • No luck :(
Went through to retentions, and was very nice to the chap.

Couldn't get the LTE S3. He said they were offering it earlier in the month when their computer systems were still new. But Samsung stopped them offering it on retentions deals because they were losing too much money.
So he said the deals on the web were the best you'd get for the LTE.

So I was only offered the Standard S3.

    600 mins
    Ultd texts
    750mb

    £26 per month & £80 upfront

With EE being launched tomorrow, I think T-Mobile are playing it tough.
I tried upgrades via online chat too. But I was told the prices on the web are what an existing customer will get.
I wasnt even offered 20% discount if I stay on my current tarrif.

    Hi
Was promised delivery by 12 today, 1.30 came and no phone, lunchtime, so called - the guy didnt sound Welsh like the last times Ive called....hmmm..... and said the Xperia wouldnt be delivered for 2 weeks ...grrrr
During the call my phone beeped, and was a mobile - rang it back and was a delivery driver!!! Walked round corner and picked it up - happy (ish!)
Differening contract dates and lengths now, on:
    - text with plan details when renewed (what I wanted)
    - delivery note (24 mths)
    - my Tmob - says 28 mths!
Wow! On phone now trying to sort, again now does not sound Welsh - bring back our UK helpers!!!
