I was quoted just over £20 plus VAT a couple of weeks ago when I asked for my PAC to coincide with my contract ending
On asking how they justified this charge they said that there had been a mistake and dropped it!
Genuine mistake or scam?
I dont know but theres a lot of information on this site alone
And dont wait for retentions to call back
2 weeks here and no call yet
Upgrades offered over the phone worse than the deals I could get walking into a high street branch of CW
Good luck
Exacly what happened with me. Requested PAC as was within my 30 days. Bill came out day later and I was charged the fee.
I phoned asking why Id been charged but the advisor just wouldnt budge stating if I leave 28 days early Id be techincally leaving early so breaking the terms of of my contract. Argued but to no avail.
Phone up again later and the advisor without question refunded the fee.
Prob just a scam as anyone else wouldnt have phoned up or wouldv given up when they said no the first time.0 -
I called about an early upgrade, they said they couldnt offer me anything as I have friends and family discount and theyre trying to get rid of these.
When absolutely pushed I was offered a flexi-upgrade on either a pretty basic nokia, an iphone 4 or a galaxy s2....none of which I want,( I hv the s2 now and id like the s3 next) there was an upfront cost of 200pounds on iphone and £26 per month with no f&f discount....id lose that. Soooo I.ll need to wait til my 30 day notice period and try again.
so please press my :T thanks :Tbutton x

They aren't interested.
My two year contract is up md Sept. I asked for and got my pac Aug 15th. Had a quick chat then and nothing special offered. I assumed I'd get called, didn't expect anything great from reading this thread, but thought they'd make the effort ........... deafening silence. They really aren't bothered.0 -
Is anyone able to advise me where I stand? I'm with T-Mobile, I have 14 months left on my contract - I'm paying £35 for it's 'all-in' 2000 mins/ultd texts + internet deal. I feel I'm paying for way too much that I don't use, especially when other networks do the same deal for £10 to £13 cheaper. I have just been told by customer retentions that I can't have a lower price plan, even if I offer to extend the life of my contract. I got so riled with the woman who just kept repeating the same thing back to me I hung up. I have numerous signal problems which I tried to approach during the call, but their coverage checker won't work so I can't tell them if I should be getting good signal service or not.
Can they refuse to extend my contract even if it is at my request? I would have thought they'd jump at the chance to tie someone in for another 10 months.
Also, are the contact centres not located in the UK anymore?Ellebelle0 -

As you're tied into the contract for another 14 months they prob wont let you change and you wouldnt be able to do anything about this.
My contract is about to end and iv advised them of they cant offer me a good deal I will move to 02 and their answer was "thats your choice". They didnt even convince me to stay. Seems like T-Mobile do not seem bothered anymore.
Possibly to do with their merger with Orange so they have enough customers and enough revenue.0 -

I called back and spoke to someone else on their 'loyalty team' in their South Wales centre, she couldn't even offer me a free bolt-on for calling 08 numbers to satisfy me until my upgrade is due. She was lovely but all she could suggest for the signal was to download app's that don't exist for iPhone or to call back on another phone when I'm in a place where I have signal problems. I'm not at all happy with the result of the call, I don't feel any further forward than I was before!Ellebelle0 -
Just called them today, my contract is not up for renewal until 27th, but the guy said i could bring this forward to the 21st if i wanted to upgrade:
HTC desire C £15 - 300mins, 500 txts, basic net unlimited 250mb (restricted speed if exceeded)
Sim only 300mins, 5000 texts £5
Need to do some research, but these look like quite good bargains from face value. I said i was looking to switch to giffgaff and wanted something cheap because i am currently unemployed.0 -
Has anyone used the mobiles.co.uk website? I have just seen a deal for the samsung galaxy s2 for £26 a month but you only have to pay 99p for 8 of the 24 months of the contract which to me sounds like a really good deal. You get 750MB , 300 Minutes , Unlimited Texts + free 1 month insurance.
I would like to take this offer but have never heard of this website till i saw a link in this forum.0 -
I have been on a rolling month to month contract for about a year now since my last contract expired, paying around £36 per month at the moment.
I just called retentions to try to get galaxy s3 for £25 per month with unlimited internet and free phone, no go. Eventually after some negotiation, there wasn't anything suitable for me as I feel the S3 will come down in price in a couple of weeks when the new iphone comes out.
I asked for my PAC code, with the understanding that I need to give 30 days notice, so I would use my PAC code in the last couple of days of the notice period to get my money's worth. Apparently this is not the case and the 30 days notice starts from the day I USE my PAC code. Yes, you heard that right, so basically once I use my PAC code, I then have to pay for a month for nothing, as my number is already transferred. At first I thought I had misheard or that the lady had got her facts wrong, so I re-confirmed that this was the case a few times and she confirmed that it was. I mentioned that I thought it sounded like a scam as I am out of contract and will essentially be paying for something I don't use. She said that apparently they used to do it without the notice period, but OFCOM told them they had to do it as the other networks had the notice period also??
Right now, I'm a bit confused, so I said I would transfer to a pay as you go tariff instead and then give get my PAC code and so I've left it at that for now.
I suppose I'm writing this as a bit of buyer beware and just to see if others have experienced this? I will be calling them back up at some point to see if this is correct and then if it is, I will take it further.0
