    hi,

have never dealt with a retentions department of any kind before, and was looking for some advice. my current plan is
    Combi 35(18 month)
    800 minutes
    500 texts(unlimted text booster used)
    internet plus booster(£4.25 momnth)
    Free G2(HTC Hero)
    £35 p/m

my contract expired in february, so have just been on the rolling contract, didnt even realise i was up for upgrade. In a dream world i would like the samsung galaxy sii, but on cheaper plan. if i got a ridiculous cheap contract, wouldnt be too bothered about what phone i got, as long as i can get internet access. what i want advice with is should i try go for the galaxy saying i can get a better deal elsewhere, or say i am going to look for a cheaper plan, or all guns blazing and go for both?

    any feedback would be welcome

When I upgraded from my G2 touch I went for the wildfire s as i wanted the best cheap phone I could get. It is very similar to g2 touch so you won't have any issues using. It is not massively different tho. The screen is the same size but better resolution. The handset is smaller which I see as a benefit, others want big handsets tho. It is quicker and has a better version of android and a better camera. It has other small improvements too like you can't hang up with your ear. Also they ate offering it cheap. I pay 7 pound a month for 24 months for 100mins unlimited texts and internet. 5 extra to upgrade to 300 mins and so on.

I really like the phone. Great value for money
  • Hi all,
My 12 month Sim Only Contract is coming to an end in November, and was told to call in October otherwise the price would go up.

I currently pay £7.66 and recieve,

    600 Mins,
    500 Texts
    3GB Internet
    1 Free Booster (Unlimited Texts)

I was wondering how good T-mobile are at upgrades and retentions, and if I can get that same plan again for another 12 months or better?

    Thanks in advance!
  • They are pretty good at retentions, I got a sim-only deal for £5 a month for 100 mins, 100texts and a free booster (internet in my case). You can only give them a call and see what they offer, your current deal seems very good though.

This might be useful as a reference point, my loyalty amount was quoted as £400:

I've asked and received my PAC code and I got a call from the T-Mobile customer loyalty team. After trying to get the same deal they offered on the Desire S with the Sensation, they came back with their 'best offer':
    HTC Sensation
    300m
    UL txt
    1Gb Internet
    18 months @ £25
    plus £20 for the handset

This is a good offer, but I told him they would need to drop the £20 handset charge for a deal. Since then I've had 3 further calls from them which haven't been answered. Sounds like they're ready to do business.

Sounds like a decent deal that. Hope my wife gets offered similar in a couple of weeks when she "cancels".
A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.
  • I'm currently on 300 mins £20 per month. I had £120 gfor HTC Desire 18 mionths ago. As my contract has come to an end. I logged in to my t-mobile just to get an idea as to whats out there for any upgrades.

iPhone wasn't available but it said lcik here if you are interested in iPhone upgrade, I clicked it. It took me to the live chat. I was asked how they could help me I said I was interested in iPhone and just wanted to get an idea as to the prices.

I stated I wanted something similar to my current price plan i.e. 300 mins £20. The adviser merely quoted whats on the site, £30.64 300 mins £179.99 for iPhone 4, if they are going merely quote the price on the site why even have "click here for iPhone 4 upgrade". Fail much.

I said other networks are much cheaper and I would probably call retentions soon.

I know prices might come down with the release of iPhone 5 but I just wanted to get an idea as to where I might stand with T-Mobile. Not sure how much of a better deal I might get with retentions. With reference to the previous posts, whats the difference between the loyalty team and retentions team...

Someone who works for T-Mobile might be able to explain fully, but basically when you choose the option to cancel or get your PAC code, you reach the retentions team. They can offer you slightly better deals than you see on the website.

If you actually go ahead and request your PAC code, you are likely to get a call from an outgoing loyalty team who can offer the best deals available for your profile.

    just spoke with retentions

    Currently have a HTC Desire.

Priced quoted for SG II was silly.

    But £14.50 a month 18 month contract

    300 mins
    300 text
    Internet
    free booster
    Free HTC Wildfire S

so £261.00 for 18 months minus £130 value of handset so £7.27 a month, kind of like low interest free loan!

Not sure what to go for now!

Offer to pay £20 for the phone and that should drop to £10.

They were giving the Wildfire S away for £10 to new customers last weekend.
