    Was this a renewal deal?

Did it take much negotiation at carphone warehouse?

What contract were you on before?

    Hi,

    Yes it was an upgrade,
Have been on the £25, 300 m 300 txt no internet for 18 mths, been with T mob about 8 years

I usually go to Carphone warehouse as they usually beat the Tmobile offer anyway!

PS - CPW just called them up from instore, and asked if t mob could improve on the offer - very polite and got the ofer straight away no haggling -very impressed.
  • So when i'm eligible for upgrade in a few days i should call 150 and goto "if you wish to leave T-Mobile" rather than "if you wish to upgrade or renew your contract"?
  • im after a defy handset

but currently have 12 months left on my contract, i today rang t mobile told them i wanted to buy out the contract to get a defy

i currently get 100 mins unlimited txts and unlimited web for 10 pounds a month

what would i say to carphone warehouse if i wanted a similar deal to topcat?

all t mobile offered (wasnt retentions though) was 20 quid for the defy, 100 quid to buy out my old contract and stay on the same 10 pound tariff i currently have

Just phoned up to cancel my contract with 2 mobile. I paid £30 per month for 300 mins, 300 texts and unlimited net with a htc hero.

I was offered a htc wildfire for £10 per month with; 300 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited net on a 24 months contract.

    or

if i was to keep my existing handset, i could have 300 mins, 300 texts and unlimited net for £5 a month on a 24 month contract.

I said I would think about the offers and to continue with my cancellation request.

What are the chances of t-mobile offering me an improved retention deal?

there is an excellent chance! Personally i did my t-mobile upgrade through buymobilephones.net and saved £15 a month on my whole 24 month contract! Look at other t-mible 3rd partys such as upgradeexperts and chitter chatter.

Those both sound amazingly good to me. Did you have to do a lot of haggling or threatening? The first deal is not a lot more than some shops charge for that phone on PAYG and the second is about half the price of most of the SIM only deals that I've seen.

I'm in the last month of my T-Mobile contract and will probably change to another provider unless they offer me something exceptionally good.

I didn't do any haggling to be honest. Just told them I wanted to cancel as I wanted to reduce my monthly outgoings, I was put on hold for 2 minutes, then the nice girl come back with these 2 offers. I could take the wildfire offer and sell the handset - as I believe it isn't better spec'd than the hero. Any idea on what the wildfire goes for?

This sounds like their standard deal at the moment. I've just gone for it myself. I'm currently paying £15 a month with them with an antique phone and no internet, so for me, a new, more upto date phone and internet for a tenner suits perfectly. I didn't haggle at all or threaten to leave, so it would be interesting to hear if anyone can better it...
