Hi, some great ideas on the thread, thought I'd share my deal I've got.
Was on a long standing (4-5 yr) contract which has always been half price line rental (£12.50 instead or £25) as I've never changed from original phone! and got 150 texts and 100 minutes which rarely go over.

Asked for PAC code - was offered 300m + 300txts, flexi booster and internet with a HTC Wildfire for £15 a month, explained looking to keep costs down, they offered 100m/100txts, flexi boost & internet with Wildfire for £10 a month. Asked about cost of a Nokia C5 (which is what I wanted to be honest) was offered 100mins/100txts and a booster (which I can have as internet) for £7.50 a month, said I would go away and think about it. They credited my account with a £5 loyalty bonus.

Phoned back a couple of days later asked if I could have the C5 deal but have the same for my wife (she's paying about £8 a month on ASDA payg - and we both need new phones), retentions had to put me thru to sales (I didn't renew with retentions) as I said politely that I would probably leave T-Mobile if we couldn't both get that deal. Sales said that "..we've managed to agree that deal for you with the manager..blah blah".

Then told it would be Tuesday before I would get the phones, like that is going to be a problem, this was Thursday evening, how demanding are some customers, in this need it now society!

So all in all not a bad deal, I know you can come as a new customer and get the deal for £10 a month anyway, but for 2 of us getting it for £7.50 saves £120 over the term of the contract (24mnth) and we've got 2 new phones and better contracts.
  • Just to let you know what happened to me on T-Mobile... I had been with them for 4 1/2 years (2 numbers, spending about £40-£50 per month between the two contracts).

18 months ago when I phoned for an upgrade they were very unhelpful, reduced the benefits on the account, only gave one upgrade (the other contract wasn't costing enough apparently)

I phoned to request a pac-code - it was given and they made no attempt to entice me to stay with any special offer or discounts. I was quite surprised. It didn't matter as my employer was about to pay for business mobile contract so £0 cost for me.

About 2 weeks later I got a phone call (I'd not used the pac-code yet as the iphones we were getting were out of stock). I said I might be interested in renewing, what was the best they could offer... I got offered: 2 top of the range smart phones (one HTC, one Sony) with lots of minutes (over 1000 between the two contracts), unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £20/month (and £0 for the phones). Was blown away... if I hadn't been about to get my phones paid for by work I'd have been delighted.

It might be worth trying it out too - getting a pac-code and seeing what happens. You don't have to use it (just check you don't forfeit any of your existing discounts/benefits by getting the pac-code).
  • I am a light mobile user and have been on a cheap contract with t-mobile for 7 years. I wanted an internet phone so bought an Orange San Francisco and T-Mobile retentions offered me 100 mins, 100 texts and unlimited internet for £5 a month. I am pretty happy with that.

What is friends and family? I have two contracts but they never told me about this....

Without sounding rude, you have no actual right to know about this. This is a special discount for FRIENDS & FAMILY of T-Mobiles that can be invited to join at the staff members discretion.

You are not entitled to it nor are retentions at any liberty to inform you of this.

Hi I it's upgrade time for me with T-mobile. I have been with T-mobile for 3 years and they have offered me the following:
    HTC Desire (refurbished/preowned) £70
    or
    Nokia E72 (brand new) £60

Both on a Flext 30 tariff, 24 month contract, £15 a month. This tariff gives me £180 credit to spend on whatever I want. And at least a 1GB internet allowance.

    Are these offers any good?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Is it £15 a month for 24 month plus phone cost - after discount of £180?

Would not get a refurbished phone and pay for it too - you can get the Desire for £20 I think from online retailers free over 18 months.
Same sort of deals with the E72. Be it these are likely to be cashback offers.

So to me its not great offer.

    Hi sorry for the confusion.

It is the phone price plus £15 a month.

The £180 relates to what I get as an allowance. Flext is different from normal pay monthly tariffs as it just gives you an allowance, £180 in my case, which you can then spend each month on calls and texts etc.

Oh I see - I remember now - Flext - its the credit per month.
I guess if you are likely to spend £180 worth of credit on calls, internet and texts - then it might be right deal for you.

But I would definitely not want a refurbished phone. To me E72 is going to better than the Desire (I had an e63 which I sold because I want the e72).

Flext does have its advantages with free 08 calls etc. - So if you use your phone for those - then it might suit you. But 24 months is bit longer - 18 months is long enough so I would ask for 18 months, with a free phone (unlikely to get offered that but worth a try).

T-mobile did say that I could have a brand new Desire for £90. But seems a bit steep considering I will be paying for a 24 month contract on top of that?!?!?

I do like the Flext as it offers flexibility of what I can use the allowance on.

I am sort of tempted to get the Motorola Defy as they quoted me £20 for that handset and then just sell it on Ebay.
