Hello guys!
Been following this thread with interest. Need to cut costs as everyone else does.
Been with O2 for 3yrs, out of contract since June 07.
Current plan:
1000 xnet mins/mth (rolls over so have about 4000 xnet now)
150 texts
1MB web browsing/mth
costs £35/mth
I pretty much use up the 1000 minutes as I don't like texting much.
Called up today and was offered:
30 day rolling contract
1200 xnet mins
1000 texts
1 free o2 bolt-on
£25/mth for 6months (discounted from £30)
(pretty much the Simplicity Online 30 - no great surprises)
So I said, hmm.... would like to keep my old deal so what can you offer me.
Straight away she says keep your old plan for £20/mth, phone upgrade (Nokia 6300/6500/6500 slide) or £150 bill credit so in effect £0/mth for 7.5 months.
Tried to see if I could get more internet browsing out of her but she said could only do 2MB for £3 or 4MB for £5/month extra)
Good deal I know but I am holding out for more - after all this is MSE! I think I saw a thread where someone got down to £17.50 but i'm pretty sure there's no rollover.
I've got 7days to think it over but I'll keep looking and see if I can squeeze more out of them.
Wish me luck!Tough times never last longer than tough people.0 -
Those 4000 will be wiped when you upgrade, they sort of reset it even if you stay on the same plan, happened to me a few times0

I've been following the O2 retentions thread for some time now and thought that today I could upgrade, however I was categorically told by retentions that I could not do it until the 19th Oct (as he said my contract ended on 19th Nov) or that if I did I would pay an extra months line rental!
I'm a bit confused by this as my opening letter from O2 is dated 9th Nov 2007. All the emails I've received telling me my bill is ready are dated the 9th of the month and the bill date (on the bills themselves) is the 9th of the month.
The O2 online billing has now generated by last (twelfth month) bill and the actual payment date will be on 23rd October 2008.
How can it be that I can't upgrade now?
Rang again and was told the info the first bloke had given me was wrong, so I can ask for PAC/upgrade today.
I did this and was offered (on a monthly rolling contract):
200 mins, 400 texts and unlimited O2 to O2 calls at £10 for 6 months which is basically the online Simplicity tariff discounted by £5.
I also asked about broadband and was offered it for £2.50 per month.
Is this ok for a Simplicity retention deal or is there better to be had?
Cheers...0 -

My contract runs out in a month on Saturday so I’m planning on ringing up on Saturday and enquiring about the iPhone, has anyone any idea on what I might be happy with or as other people have said may it just be a case of accepting the tariffs available to customers?
Thanks.0 -
i rang 202 from my handset but it said my number was managed by an independant provider and to call them instead (so that would be the carphone warehouse)
i rang them earlier and they offered me a nokia 6500 classic, at £21.80 per month after cashback and 600 anytime cross network minutes in the week, and a bolt on of 2000 x-network weekend calls and 500 anytime texts.
my current deal is £17.50 line rental after cashback, with 1500 off peak x-network minutes and 250 texts.
so i am not that impressed really   i prefer my current deal but they say they do not do the weekday offpeak free minutes anymore - any suggestions?0 -

not meant to disclose this but at the moment retention can not chip any money off the iphone yet, dont matter how much you scream at them, they cant do any deals as there not allowed. hold on till next month as there will be deals with the iphone, in next month plan options.;)0 -
I've just flogged the Ignito received today within 6 hours of placing it on ebay - received payment already. Sold as a buy it now for £240, you may want to consider this instead of accepting 150 credit. Seems to go for about 240 - 255 over 7 day auction, was happy to take the lower end quickly. However if you're thinking of doing this act quickly, phones like this drop in value pretty quickly as the quantity on sale increases.
As I wanted the N95 8GB, I may buy one on ebay (seems to go for a similar amount). Alternatively, I might wait until the N96 is in the £250 region which will probably be around Xmas. My original N95 is working fantastically since the firmware was updated, it even has BBC iPlayer now (shame it only works on wifi though).
