You are very right. Next question - how do you get through to retentions and bypass the crappy upgrade people?

instead of hitting the option for wanting to upgrade, hit the option for "if you are thinking of leaving o2"

I hope other members experiences of the ignito are better than mine, i returned mine after 4 days, battery would not hold charge for a full day (yes i conditioned it) , teh software is very slow and laggy, and the calls kept cutting out, quite possibly was a faulty handset, but nevertheless sent it back and took myself to vodafone

just called and been offered the 600 min, 1000 text, unlimited internet and Ignito for £20 p/m

Really not sure though. I am so used to 12 month contracts on cash back deals, and dont really need so many minutes.

however, due to a career change I will find a decent PDA type phone and internet access really useful.

    Any opinions?

Edit - they also offered the Orbit 2?
  • Managed to get an Ignito, 12 month contract, 1200 minutes, texts and free web bolt on for £18 per month.

Granted I did have a high spend for the past year!

Ive been with BT cellnet, cellnet then O2 for 11 years now!

I like the Ignito, i don't find it slow. I've not had problems with calls cutting out. Although it did do my head in when I was way up north of scotland and it was looking for a signal. Kept giving me a message, you chose dismiss and then seconds later it was back. I ended up having to switch off the phone signal to stop it looking for one. Grr.

Anyone else offered i900 Omnia deal from O2?

How does it compare with HTC Touch Diamond?
  • I've just been offered a really good deal with O2. I've only been with them for about 5 months on a simplicity tariff but I called to see if I could get a new phone on a cheap contract. At first I was told no but after I got my PAC code they rang me again and offered me a deal. The gave me:

    600 Mins
    1000 Text
    blackberry unlimited bolt on
    FREE Blackberry Bold

all for £25 per month. I think this is a pretty good deal considering the phone only came out on monday and is normally £100 on the O2 600 contract.

Just shows that if you're willing to actually get your PAC code then you'll get a good deal!
  • My father in law has just been sent a Nokia 6500 as an upgrade on his 02 account but I feel he should send it back and try to get something better.

He has been a customer for years and whilst he is on a £45 tariff his bills are around the £60 mark yet he was given a £200 phone and no discount...

Surely he should be aimining for a much better deal than that?

he probably went through the normal upgrade channel, as opposed to the retention team, send it back, then once they have recieved it tell them that you want your pac code, and tell your father in law to expect a call from their outbound retentions team, who can do deals and discounts

So do you think he should send it back as its still within 14 days and see what he can get?
