Just to let you know, you really need to haggle hard as you can get a really good deal.
Here is a deal I got about 8 months ago.
I rang retentions to cancel, explained I wanted to cancel my contract because I was moving over to vodafone (i wanted the N95Black 8GB and it was the only network that stocked it at the time). Eventually they said, if you keep your existing phone we will offer you:
400 minutes, 400 texts, 18 month contract, all for ZERO pounds a month!
I snapped the deal up.
Basically.. they offered this deal as £25/month, but said coz i had been with o2 for 2 years, they could nock of £15/month dicount, meaning the contract would cost £10 month. However, because I was not wanting a new phone, they would credit the account with £180.
This works out at ZERO quid a month. It's worth pointing out that i didnt need to have any bank account details, as the credit is put on the o2 account.
The worst thing is, i dont even use the phone, it just sits in a draw, but because it was a free contract I thought, why not.
Anyway - i haggled good when I went onto contract with Vodafone for my N95black. I managed to grab one for free on 12 month contract (this was an exceptional deal at the time). So now the contract is due to expire soon, I am gonna stick my o2 sim into my N95Black. I rang up o2 and explained i needed mobile internet. And they've said, if i pay just 10 quid a month, I'd get 1000 texts / 1000 mins and unlimted internet. So thats what ive done.
Also - if you say you want to change you number specifically due to nuisance calls, they do it instantly for free.0 -
O2 XDA Ignito on it's way to me......
600 mins, 1000 text, unlimited web £35 a month, 18 month contract.
Had requested PAC code, they called me back to get me to stay (check I'd received the code - yeah right).
Offered a £15 a month discount. Cool
So now I've a new phone, more mins, more texts, more web and less than I was paying last year.

I just phoned retentions said I was leaving because they didn't sell the Samsung Omnia.
I was offered the O2 XDA Ignito. With 600 mins, 1000 text, unlimited web.
£20 a month.
I'm not sure if I'll like this phone, but I'll give it a try for 14 days, if not, send it back.
I've read a couple reviews and they say that the OS runs quite slow, has anyone else had this problem?

I tried an Ignito in an O2 shop; it was certainly not lightning fast but I've used slower phones with fewer features. O2's firmware seems to be better than the firmware Orange load onto their HTC Diamond, and the blue theme actually looks good.
I decided not to get a handset though; think I'll wait for O2 to release the XDA version of the Touch Pro (Serra I think it's called, basically a more bricky version of the Ignito with a slide out keyboard). Until then I shall stick with my iPhone (original), perhaps indefinitely.0 -
can anyone help?
I have an old BT staff account with O2 that they have told me will end if i upgrade or agree any new contracts (had an horrendous experience last upgrade as they cancelled staff discount and didnt tell me)
point is its ending i would like to know what offers they have that they are not telling me about. im on 1200 mins anytime and unlimited texts at £19.00 a month.
I called them and they just try flogging me an iphone for free which i dont want as i have n95 and an ipod already.
I know the discount ive had cuts it down a lot but anybody had anything close that i could barter for?
thanks0 -
Hi my contract is on its 30 day notice and I have already requested my pac code whoch expires 6 oct. I have been trying to get a good deal all month with no real success.
current contract: online 30 talker with 02-02 unlimited calls
(500 mins/100text/02-02)
price 25pm but last renewal discounted to 15pm
I have decided I do not need a new phone so they have offered me the same contract for again 15pm with £150 credit instead of the phone.
The prob is I am really close to going over my mins so told them I would take the deal if they increased my mins to 700, but they won't do so I said I would think about it. They said they couldn't change the mins on my contract. I rung back and asked for a free bolt on (200 anytime mins) but again they refused? any advise please?slimming world:

Hi Guys,
I'm on O2 45 and have been with 02 years and have spent thousands with them this year so I'm expecting something good from them! With my current contract it's £45/month with 1200 mins/200 texts/unlimited weekends but I had to fork out for my N95 last year!
Anyway now I want to be paying much less for my phone tariff but still expect at least 600+ minutes with unlimited weekends and as many texts as possible with either the N78 or 6220Classic thrown in for free. I've tried today and the woman offered me the £20/month non-contract which everybody here has been offered it seems but I'm looking for something much better than that.
Anyone got any suggestions on what I could realistically hope for and any deals I could play off against them to try and make them up their offer?0 -

I've just upgraded to the above tariff with the pink blackberry pearl for £27 a month with blackberry unlimited for 18 months. They did also offer me the Blackberry Bold for free (should have cost £50) and the above tariff for £36 with blackberry unlimited for 18 months but I preferred the smaller and pink phone. I spoke to 02 rentention and asked really nicely and they were really nice back - normal upgrade are useless, they offer the deals that you currently see and they can't do any better either. Good luck!0 -

You are very right. Next question - how do you get through to retentions and bypass the crappy upgrade people?0
