I'm a regular reader of this board and it's helped me out many times, so thought I'd report the deal I've just got with O2. I was coming to the end of my 18 month contract with them for which I pay £20 a month for...I dunno, about 100 minutes and loads of texts (they seem to roll over every month and I have about 600 of them at the mo).
I'm not bothered about a phone upgrade as I only text and call and my little Samsung Somethingorother is just fine for me. So I rang them and they offered me an okayish deal, but it wasn't that amazing. I mentioned that I wasn't that keen on an upgrade and what with the £60 that Quidco offer to sign up with Dialaphone and the free line rental offers Dialaphone have I could get about 200 mins / 200 texts for what would work out at about £7 a month or something silly. I made it clear I was happy with O2, wasn't trying to play hardball, but it would obviously require a really good deal for me not to cancel my contract and re-sign with Dialaphone. She went away, then came back with the following offer:
18 month contract
200 minutes / 400 texts / unlimited O2 calls
£10 a month (discounted from £25 a month, apparently)
£150 O2 credit, which should work out at the first 15 months free if I don't use web access or go over my limit ,which I won't.
So my 18 month contract effectively costs me £1.66 a month. Quite how O2 make any money from this I don't know, but I'm a very happy man!

I guess if you aren't taking out a new handset then you aren't really costing them anything. This is a situation I suppose they can live with if it means other networks don't gain another customer.Quite how O2 make any money from this I don't know, but I'm a very happy man!

I guess that's true. Having said this, I've just noticed the poster above me got an evern better deal for the same money! But if I hadn't had seen that I woud still be happy, so I'll ignore it.

Hey,
I rang O2 yesterday. I was on a 12 month contract for around £10 per month for 500 minutes and 400 texts.
After giving me a lecture about being kind to the environment by not having an upgrade, they offered me either:
£25 p/m for 400 minutes 1000 texts, unlimited o2 calls and free C902
or
£30 p/m for 600 mins 1000 txs, unlimited o2 and free c902.
I provisionally agreed to the £25 offer but I'm now going to ring back and try for £20 pm 600 mins 1000 txs, I've been with o2 for 5 years and I intend to quote all the above posts!! Thanks money savers!!0 -
If they give me a lecture about the enviroment next time I upgrade I'll say that they are so tight that they can't afford to spend 20-30 quid on a phone every 12 months anymore:). I've been with them since 2000 and frankly it doesn't matter how long you have been with them anymore- it's how much you spend with them and to a greater extent luck on who you get in retentions.Hey,

Hi,
I just rang them back, and agreed to 600 mins 1000 txs wit o2-o2 calls for £25 per month, with a free C902.
I quoted foggy horse's deal a vodaphone deal and a 3 deal and he seemed to accuse posters on this site of lying about their deals and implied I was stupid to believe what someone had written on the internet... I wish i had some sort of clever retort ready for him but I really don't like haggling so agreed to the £25 p/m!!!

After seeing the deal Orange were doing (Orange Raccon 10) I decided to give O2 a call to see if they could do anything to compete.
I'm on the Simplicity Online 15 which gives me 200mins, 400 texts and free O2 - O2 calls for £15.
After calling the cancellations department the CS lady said they could do my current deal for £10 for 6 months - I was chuffed with that.
Then she asked if I had broadband & I explained that have SKY mid package which is £5 a month. She said she may be abe to do me a deal on that too as I'm an existing customer which I thought was unlikely as £5 a month is good.
She offered me it for £2.50 a month (new 12 months contract) and I said I liked to find out more. She then said she could do it for free if I joined tonight.
I'm currently in the process of changing over.
Hi guys - just thought I'd feedback on the broadband offer - I will include this in the broadband section too.
Received all my info via text - when I'd receive equipment & when I'd be connected etc. It all went smoothly - I'm very impressed. Equipment arrived on time and I was connected the yesterday as I expected.
The only problem I had was getting the MAC from Sky - several phonecalls ..... - you know what they're like.
Anyway, speed - I paid for the MAX (up to 16mb) with Sky & could only ever get 7mb. I then reduced it to the MID package (up to 8mb) and got less than 5mb. So far my speed with O2 has been between 7-10mb - so I'm really pleased.0 -

I've just been offered 600 mins, 1000 texts + free unlimited bolt on SIM free for £20pm. If I want a SE C902 it'll cost me £30pm.
Quite reasonable methinks but I'll be calling back to try and get a better deal later on...0 -
Tell them that Vodafone direct sales can offer 600 mins, unlimited texts/internet and any phone (bar N95 and 8800) for £20p/m. This is not an advertised tariff but their commercial rules allow it for those who ask.terrytibbs wrote: »I've just been offered 600 mins, 1000 texts + free unlimited bolt on SIM free for £20pm.
