  • After a couple of phone calls to retentions I have just signed up for 75 mins / 125 texts and unlimited O2 to O2 on an 18 month contract at £20 discounted to £10 per month with a £100 credit. I'm keeping my existing phone.
Just claimed my O2 treat as well of another 20 mins per month.

It works out at £4.44 per month :D

This is an amazing deal! As said though; get it in writing!
If this deal comes about, I'll be referencing it with Vodafone, the c905 is an amazing phone!

Hasty, I've got the deal in writing now if you want to quote it. Basically, until the c905 comes out, I'm on the Simplicity tariff (£20 p/m) which gives me:

    600 mins
    1000 texts
    unlimited browsing

and once the c905 comes out, I get all the above on an 18 month contract for £20 per month.
  • Hi foggyhorse. I just called O2 retentions to sort out a deal to get a C902 but because it isn't in stock they wouldn't tell me what they could do. I was calling with a deal I had got from Vodafone too. It seems strange they could sort it out for you and not for me and I even went so far as to get a PUK number from them  They couldn't even tell me when it would be in stock.

I am currently paying £18.99 a month for 50 mins and 500 texts but I often go over my texts and it has averaged out at £25 a month. I called O2 upgrades yesterday and all they would offer me was no phone upgrade but a £100 credit. The only way they would give me a new phone was for me to switch to a new tariff with less than I am getting now.

The Vodafone deal averages out at £27 per month over 18 months so slightly more than I am paying now but for unlimited texts and 600 minutes. Dunno what to do in case I hold out for O2 to get the C902 back in stock but won't let me have one and I miss the Vodafone deal. Though I suppose there will be other deals...

Ur better going through to disconnections, they have the authority to offer a lot better deals.
  • hmmm - The C902 is in stock on their web site...

Incidentally, reading through some posts above seems they are keen to push the simplicity tariff which is what they tried to get me on.
  • Hi Sol00 - I did go though the disconnections/retentions line.

Anyway, just called them again, spok to someone else and I got the same deal as foggyhorse and they have switched me to a cheaper simplicity tariff until the phone is back in stock :T :T :T

(apparantly the upgrade stock is a different stock line and they cannot borrow from the other)

    Hi Alison,

although the terms are the same, you have a different model phone (c902) to foggyhorse (c905) which hasnt actually been released yet.

They offered me the same deal as you a few days ago (the 902 was in stock then) but I wanted to think about it as I've never been keen on SE phones in the past.

I havent rung back yet to see if they will agree to the deal foggyhorse has posted- seems amazingly good for a brand new handset free.

Personally I wouldn't go for the c902, i've heard some bad things about it and if you wanna take pictures in low lighting, the lack of a proper flash makes it a pretty poor camera in my opinion.

I've been with o2 for about 5 years now and was spending an average of £40+ over the last 18 months, maybe this is why they're offering me the c905 for free?

Either way, it's worth asking about the c905. Like others have said though, make sure you get it all in writing via an email or something.

    thanks for the advice foggyhorse,

I'm currently a prada girl (previously had a samsung slider and before that only nokias) so my initial thoughts were a viewty (but too much like the prada) or maybe a tocco/soul.
it's a first for me not to be sure what I want- I'm normally champing at the bit to get a particular model :p

I've been with O2 since they were genie years ago, so perhaps I can try the loyalty card too..

Without any difficulties, retentions have offered

    400 mins
    1000 texts
    unlimited browsing
£150 credit in lieu of upgrade handset (as it's for mum, I don't need one)

for £10/month on 18 month contract
