foggyhorse,
Unless I got that promise in writing I would not agree to it. It's quite easy to say yes now and when you ask for the phone later be told 'you didn't accept a phone when you signed up now you're stuck for 18 months'.
It looks like a pretty good deal, though, IF you do get a handset.0 -
I agree with fiish, foggyhorse. Twice now, O2 reps have told me that C902s are only going out with £45 contracts henceforth (though I cant think why - other companies are dispensing them freely).
Make sure you get it in writing. Mobile phone companies are rarely to be trusted, IME.0 -
Hi all! 12 days until I can upgrade.
Currently - 400 mins and 1000 texts for £20 a month with an N73.
Looking for the current simplicity offer of 600, 1000 and unlimited surfing for £20 on a contract with a new phone (which is the £35 online tariff)
Now current phone selection to me is pretty pants. I am hoping to get a Nokia 6220 for free. On the website they say the phone costs £50 on the £35 tariff. Will i be able to budge them on that cost? really dont want to be stuck on an 18month tariff with a cr*p phone.0 -

O2 want to lead the market in bringing down handset subsidies (i.e. increasing the cost to us). From a business point of view it's sound if they can still attract customers - operators don't like MoneySavers because we try to keep our bills down :P
Frankly, the best response from customers is to switch en masse0 -

As the phone I want (c905) isn't out at the mo, i'm using my current handset (k800i). The bloke reckoned I could just ring up at any time when it's released and they'd send me it free of charge.
Sounded too good to be true, so just wondered if anyone else had requested a phone that isn't out yet and whether or not they could upgrade for free when it was released?
This is an amazing deal! As said though; get it in writing!
If this deal comes about, I'll be referencing it with Vodafone, the c905 is an amazing phone!0 -
Hi all
Have been sent to this extremely helpful forum and hope people can give me some advice. Have been reading through the thread, although have forgotten the beginning to be honest!
I popped into an O2 shop last week and they advised me that i am able to upgrade, i said i'd take a book and look at phones and think about it. I have currently got a K800i which i am getting a little frustrated with so would like to change to to either a C902 or a Nokia N95 (8GB?).
I'm on an 'Online 25 Texter' tariff that i pay £19.99 for (I think the last time i upgraded i got £5 off my bill) and with that i get 220 mins and 500 texts. Now looking at some of my bills i rarely get anywhere near the 220 mins, although i have been close so would like to increase that slightly. I do however text alot, and although don't get too close to the 500 text i do know that i hold back a fair bit incase i do go over it. So would maybe like to double that at least or maybe unlimited?! As i have wandered over the £19.99 for a few months recently.
Have been with O2 for donkeys years, but i know that doesnt always count for anything. I have looked at some sites and looks like i have to pay for the phones if i was a new customer, just not sure what my next step should be? I have gone onto onecompare.com and there seem to be some great deals with companies but i dont like the idea of these cashback things...just want something simple and straightfoward.
Look forward to hearing your opinions. Sorry if it's a little basic, not really sure what i should be doing. Any other details needed to help, let me know.
Well i took the advise about finding a tariff and going back to O2 with it. I went into Vodaphone today and they offered me the C902 free on £25 monthly tariff with 200 mins and 1000 free texts. Called O2 and they have given me 600 mins and 1000 free texts (with unlimited text bolt on, but can change that to unlimited browsing etc after 3 months) and the handset free for £24.50 as they gave me a 30% discount for loyalty. Not exactly £20, but still a fairly good deal i feel.0 -

Cheers for the info. I'll ring them back tomorrow. The bloke reckoned the c905 was out at the end of August, but after doing a bit of research, it seems that October is the earliest release date. They better not have tried to con me!0 -
I'm on CPW O2. have called twice now, been offered
1) 400mins 400txts, £10/mth (18mths)
2) 200mins 400txts, free o2-o2 calls, £10/mth (18mths)
3) 200mins 400txts, £30/mth 10mths free, (12mths - need to claim)
4) 600mins 1000txts, £35/mth 14mths free, (18mths - need to claim)
All without a phone.
I tried asking for credit (ppl here have got £150) on the £10 18mth one but the guy was pretty rude replying, "so you want to pay £30 for the whole 18mths??!!" and he said that CPW deals were exactly the same as those offered by O2 directly and that deal would never be given...shall i keep trying and ask for my PAC? What if they just agree to disconnect my number? I've read that several ppl here ask o2 for PAC and they phone you back, but will CPW do the same?
Cheers
I just got offered (and accepted) 400mins + 400 texts for £5/month on a 24 month contract. They offered this to me without any haggling... simply asked what deals they could do for me as my current contract was due to expire in a couple of weeks (had already sent a cancellation notice).0 -
As some people are saying, you have a lot more credibility if you have a comparative deal to quote.
I was on 500 mins, 400 texts for £25 a month. I quoted the £25 orange online deal of 400 mins unlimited texts, and they offered me the nokia 6500 classic (ok that was free anyway), 400 mins, unlimited O2 to O2 calls, and 1000 texts for 18 months for £15 a month.
not the greatest deal ever negotiated, but i've saved myself 120 quid a year with a 10 min phone call, so I'm happy.
the guy also said there is absolutely no chance of any 12 month deals, which is a bit annoying0
