02 Retentions thread 2

Hey, I am in the middle of an 18 month contract with O2. I think I pay £30 a month for 1000 texts and 500 minutes. However, the mobile phone I have is absolutely !!!!! Its a Sony Ericsson K810i all the buttons are broke and gernerally, the thing is just rubbish. I do have insurance so I am going to get it repaired. I would personally prefer to get a new mobile, does anyone know whether I could do this? My contract doesnt end until January.
Thanks0 -
It's retentions time again for me.
My last deal was a: -
200 mins/200 text
Credit for 10 months, £30 in month 11.
Works out at around £3 a month
I got a call from CPW yesterday badgering me about a new contract, I said I'd think about it but the deal they were offering me was rubbish.
Reckon I can swindle the retentions department for the same contract as above + a new phone? Can I afford to buy? Mortgage Affordability Calculator

I asked for a new handset on Retentions, they said I couldn't have the C902 unless I spent £35/m for 18m. I asked for a Pac code and got a very shirty response but absolutely no deal. Letter's in the post, we'll see what happens next. Why should I pay through o2 when I can go to CPW and get a cheaper deal with o2?!
Last time on retentions I got 500minutes, 100text, a K810i for £20/m on 12m. What's changed?!0 -

Whats changed is that you have already had an excellent deal and now you want another one. be fair.0 -
Has anyone got a deal after being on simplicity. I am on the £15 per month but our houshold has blackberry and broadband with them and also considering mobile broadband. I would like a new phone but am reluctant to spend a lot more per month. I am unsure if it is worth chancing it but would appreciate any feedback on anyone else in this position and how they got on.
Cheers J0 -

You should have said that you would think about it then ring themup again to speak to someone else.
Also 3 are now offereing their texter £35 at £25. Has to be done over the phone, but free C902, 750mins, unlimited texts for £35. Great deal to battle O2 with, will be doing the same for myself.
At the moment on 500mins (3month rollover), 500 texts, 12 months, £25, and will be looking for:
£20pm for 18months
Free C902
~500 mins
~300+ texts
Unlimited internet bolt-on.
Il haggle as much as I can but really don't want to leave them for 3. Been with them for about 5 years now and have gone over my allowance the odd months. Crunch time is here :beer:0 -
They probably won't offer you the C902 for any less than a 25 quid deal in retentions- at 25 quid I'd certainly go for a far better deal than 500 mins/300 texts/unlimited internet, possibly around 1000 texts a month. You should have said that you would think about it then ring themup again to speak to someone else.

THat's what I'm afraid of and getting a worse handset but them throwing mins and texts at me which I won't get near to using.
Actually looking at the new HTC touch diamond that was out a week or so ago and have heard some crap things about the C902 battery life and reliability of 3G internet conneciton.
£20 will still be the goal, but as you have said it will probably remain at £25 as that is what the '3' offer is at. But I can say that going through quidco for the texter 25 from 3 will give £62.50 cashback bringing the cost down to £20.
Battleground being readied :j0 -
Tell them that Vodafone direct sales can offer 600 mins, unlimited texts/internet and any phone (bar N95 and 8800) for £20p/m. This is not an advertised tariff but their commercial rules allow it for those who ask.
I went back and asked for a better deal quoting the three offer of their £35 texter for £25 with a free C902. Since they'd offered me a C902, 600 mins + 1000 texts + choice of unlimited bolt-on for £30 I decided to haggle.
In the end I took a Nokia 6220, 600 mins, 1000 texts, unlimited browsing for £20pm. Very happy and shows the power of having some comparisons to hand and just having a friendly chat with the retentions guy0
