I dont doubt that people were offered these but im gutted she said they werent possible
. What do you mean it came in the post?
My last 10 o2 bills come to £473.00, i should be highly valued surely?
She told me the same as the other people at o2 - i can only have my loyalty discount of £15 used on tariffs of £45 or above. I managed to get her to stumble into offering me a 40% discount on £45 tariffs making them £27pm if i only take one bolt-on.
I would agree you should be highly valued, I was spending £25 per month and very rarely went over my free allowance and if did was no more than £50 a month. I phoned them up and they offered me the Simplicity Tariff and said not interested. And said will consider cancelling and left it at that.
The next day they called me and offered me the said deal above. In fact was offered two deals:
Twelve Month
£10 per month and £100 credit
Eighteen Month
£10 per month and £150 credit
Cant remember the exact free stuff on the 12 month deal but the 18 month deal was much better. I said I would think about it and get back to them; hopefully for better which I knew was unlikely.
Called back a few days later and asked for the deal and they said "oh no that was only an outbound deal". After arguning for 10 mins they offered in the end. Few days later it came in the post with what was being offer :j0 -
I always go thru to cancellation when i'm due an upgrade:
720 anytime mins to landline and cross network mobiles
1000 texts
Free calls Sat, Sun an Mon.
Free text Sat, Sun an Mon.
£35pm and I had to pay 40odd quid for the SE K850i when it was launched.
I've heard the N96 is due anytime soon...
Edit: Got told august 2008. Now been told 1st October 2008.
But I've also heard that 02 won't be doing them.
3, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone will...0 -
I figured it would be easier replying in sections heheFU510N, personally I think what Lisa offered you was pretty good. £30 for a free phone, 1200 mins, 1000 texts and 2 unlimited bolt ons (worth £7.50 each) is not too bad.
Its is good, theres no doubt about that. But in comparison with other peoples deals its not that amazing, besides i dont wanna be shelling out £30pm unless im getting the phone i REALLY want, and O2 arent stocking the Omnia yetWhat I'm not clear about is how many minutes/texts you actually need? You say you were on 400 mins and 1000 texts but were constantly going over, so I assume you have looked over your usage and come to the realisation that you need 1200 minutes, 1000+ texts?
Yeah that has been the case, going over every month. But im moving in with my gf next month so there wont be close to that amount of calls and texts used (we live 65 miles apart lol). Although it wouldn't hurt to have them there for using on family and friends and emergancies for freeI don't know how great those phones are, but I think you would be wasting a bolt on with the unlimited texts when you already get 1000 - unless you honestly use way more than 1000 texts per month??
I wouldnt really as the majority is used on the missus, but if they're giving it away...They are offering you unlimited internet - is this something you will use? And what is the 'footy deal'?.
Yeah ill use the internet. The footy deal is a free football shirt and 6 months of their football service free.A lot of those comparison retention deals that you quoted below are nowhere near the amount of minutes you are being offered - comparing a 200 minute deal with one for 1200 is hardly like for like - that is why I think you need to be clear about what you actually need. None of the deals you mentioned below are getting anywhere near the 1200 mins, and some of the really good ones on monthly spend are not getting a new phone - perhaps you will be offered a good credit if you don't take a phone.
I was looking at the lower end retention deals so i could take out another contract on the Omnia elsewhere and still keep my loyalty with o2 for a small monthly amount and still get a little something out of it. I tried every way round it and the best i could get was £10pm for not many minutes or texts and no credit or phone, not good enough really. Why not see what they can do for you on if you dropped the 1200 mins to 600 (if that works for you) and changed one of the unlimited bolt ons to unlimited weekends/or unlimited landlines if you need to bolster your minutes? Maybe it will be a lot closer to the £20 you want to spend?
Nope, if i drop a bolt-on i can only get it down to £27pm and if i drop my minutes down i wont be eligable for the same discounts and it will work out worse for me
At the end of the day i want to be rewarded for my spending and loyalty, but O2 have none of the phones i really want and arent prepared to give me deals that reflect my "value".My daughter was offered 75 mins, 250 texts for £10 pm. No credit or new phone.
Yeah thats one of the ones i got offered, its not a patch on other peoples lower-end retention deals hereleicsmarkyr wrote: »I would agree you should be highly valued, I was spending £25 per month and very rarely went over my free allowance and if did was no more than £50 a month. Thats a fantastic deal but i cant get them to offer it to me, i tried waiting for a callback by not contacting them at all yesterday but they didnt get in touch so i called them again today, 48 hours after my last call to them. Any ideas as to how i can get them to call me and offer the same thing as you?
Phew, thats a long post!0 -
After being told yesterday that the Nokia 8 Gig was out of stock, i decided to ring back today only to be told that it has been in stock all the time its only available for the £75 tariffs and above.
I spoke to Dawn who advised me it may be worth waiting for the Nokia N96 to be released which it should be either sept/oct.
They still offered me the following deal:
Nokia 6220c (FOC)
600 Mins
1000 txts
Unlimited internet
18 mth contract £20 per month.
I am still undecided what i am going to do so i shall go away and have a think about it? :rolleyes:0 -
Ok FU510N, thanks for the response, I think I'm understanding your situation a little better now. I thought the amount of minutes at 1200 were most important to you but they clearly aren't due to the impending changes in your call patterns and the fact that you are probably interested in taking out another contract in the near future to get the phone you want..
So there are no credit deals that they can offer you if you don't take a new phone and stay on the same or a similar tariff as you are on now? I'm not sure what to suggest, looks like you have tried a range of options. Maybe if you cancel like leicsmarkyryou will get one of those outbound retention calls with a good deal (although I'm not clear on exactly how many minutes leicmarkyr is getting but it sounds like a good deal if you are looking at getting a very low monthly spend offer). good luck!0 -

I've been following your posttings , but cant actually see that you have posted details of Vodafones offer to you.I was finding it very hard myself to grind out a good deal from O2, and I got fed up with them offering deals that were the same or worse than what I already have, that I requested my PAC.
I'm going to take up one of the other deals I have researched, but have not decided which one to go for yet.So please post details of your Vodafone deal, and let us know if you have any success with O2.

The 18 month deal I was offered 200 mins and 400 texts and unlimted 02 to 02 calls. I think the 12 month was 100 mins and 100 texts.
Thing is I only said I was going to cancel; didnt get PAC or anything. They just called me the next day. Suppose depends what the agent did on my account and the notes left.0 -

Vodafone's commercial rules for new connections are as follows:
1) Vodafone direct sales (08000 686570) can offer half price line rental for 15 out of 18 months or 9 out of 12 months on their standard tariffs. You can renegotiate in months 10 or 16 anyway.
2) Whatever you spend in total line rental over 18 months is also what you can spend on a handset (up to £300+vat).
Remember:
1) Don't pay for Saturday delivery! Free delivery, one months mobile TV (£10 value pack) and three months insurance should all be given free if asked for.
2) If you want the internet or "stop the clock" (definitely worth having) then make sure they are not added after the discount is negotiated. Both normally cost £5 each so get them included so they are viewed as making a £40 tariff a £50 tariff THEN discounted rather than seen as a £10 addition to a £20 (after discount) tariff.
3) Don't expect to be readily offered all this without asking. It's worth saying that you know a friend got just such a deal etc.. Actually, to avoid the bartering preamble my sister just phoned up, said she was offered a particular deal and that she got cut off. Naughty but worked a treat!
4) I reckon it's worth switching to Vodafone for the Nokia E66 alone.
Good luck anyone who jumps. Even if you don't it's always handy to tell your preferred network what's available and invite them to beat it.0 -
Thank you jimgee for this insight. Although I still have 2 months to go on my O2 contract (a really cheap 12mo I could just buy myself out of if I wanted to) this info will be really useful.
Voda look good but I don't like their branding on the phones (and I found out that for the N78, which is what I might make my next phone, debranding voids the warranty) so I plan to just use them as a benchmark when negotiating with O2.
Well, going to bide my time for now. Lovely to see so many negotiations going so well.0
