janie,
i tried 202 but got nowhere so called 0870 600 3009 (which is free from your o2 moby i think) and went to the option of 'thinking of cancelling your contract ('number 2' i think). what you have to do is research the offer you want and be ready to quote it. the woman i got through to asked me all sorts of questions like:
where have you seen the offer?
is it a 'cashback' offer?
how many mins?
what phone is it?
etc etc. I had the site in front of me so answered all her questions quickly to show her, i wasnt making it up....if you do this, they will usually match it at worst and better it usually.
best thing to do is find a similar deal to what you want on the net somewhere and be prepared to stand your ground. don't forget, they WANT to keep you....worst case is say, a friend of mine was offered xxxx(quote a deal you like from these forums) and ask if they can match it...
let us know how you get on...good luck!0 -
FU5ION, what i did was read through all 31 pages of this thread( boring i know!) and listed a few great deals that other people have been offered. i then decided what i wanted to get out of this and went searching on the net for similar deals. once you have a deal you want, call them and be firm but polite and 9 times out of 10, they will relent and you will get what you want, as they will usually do a 'pricematch'0

Yeah I usually shop around for the best deals and get them to pricematch/better, i was just wondering if theres any way of milking more out of them because of what happened last year?
Also, if anyone knows a way for me to get out of the "T-Mobile" contract i mentioned in my post up the page then i would be very thankful0 -
The deals on this thread are really impressive! Here's my story:
I started my O2 contract in May 2006 (12-month contract). I initially signed up for 250mins + 100texts at £35 per month. They doubled it to 500mins + 200texts after the 12-month contract ended. I'm still on this contract (2 years on) and I am hardly using my minutes.
I do not want to pay £35 per month for a mobile phone contract anymore and I have never taken an upgrade. I saw a O2 sales assistant in a branch and the advice he gave was useless. He was offering me less than what I have now for £45 per month!!!
I want a new phone (for free) as my current one is over 2years old. I also want to reduce the cost of the contract. Should I ring up upgrades or retentions? I would appreciate your advice. Thanks.0 -
goldeneye, go right to retentions, they are the ones with the power to offer you the best deals. before you go, decide what you want and find a similar deal on the internet to quote to them. if you dont like what they finally offer you, give it 5 minutes and try again! as long as you are being realistic, you should get exactly what you want...good luck, let us know how it goes...0

I really, really want an Iphone, but I'm seriously angry with O2 for last year's broken promise on my contract.
So, do they allow you to haggle for an iphone - has anyone got a good deal and if so what should I target. I've got an upgrade due on the 20th......0 -
I rang 02 last night to negotiate a deal for 3 contracts mine ends end of August OH is out of contract and want to get no 1 son his first mobile:o
Couldn't do anything for me yet but promised me a fab deal if I ring on the 24th:rolleyes:
However, Hubby got a
Sony Ericsson C902- free
400 mins
1000 texts
all for £20 a month.
9 o'clock this morning phone arrived( bearing in mind this was confirmed at about 6.30pm)
Inside the box is an offer for 6 months free24-7 football subscription for new and upgrading 02 customers in August.
He's one happy bunny!
Didn't really haggle for this deal either they just asked what feature was most important to him on a phone, and hey presto,
No 1 sons deal might be harder to get cos he's 17 but will see what they offer.

I have not heard anyone manage to haggle down the standard iPhone contract due to its popularity and o2 exclusivity. Only when it is on all networks will they allow you to barter with them0 -
I've read the whole thread, and made my phone call today since my contract is up in 2 days. Figured I'd share my first post on the boards with what I managed to get.
I have been looking at an iphone since they first came out, but never had enough money to get one, let alone pay the monthly bill. I was looking at other options or a suitable replacements and found the Samsung Tocco.
So this is what I was looking for: Samsung Tocco (free), unlimited internet, 200 min, and 200 txt for about 20 quid a month.
I spoke to a nice man and we discussed the Tocco for free, with 600 min and unlimited texts for 20 a month. I asked if there was a possibility of knocking off minutes/ texts for more internet time. He couldn't do that, but when looking things up he was able to offer me:
Tocco (free), 600 min x network, 1000 txts, and unlimited internet for 20 a month.
The only problem the Tocco is not in stock at the moment, but I've changed to 600 min and 1000txt for 20 quid a month (rather than the 35 quid I was paying) until the Tocco comes available (looking at two weeks or so). When it is available, I'll be on the above deal.
So I'm well chuffed, as the only thing I wanted was the phone, the unlimited internet all for a cheaper price.0
