I called earlier this evening as I'd received a letter from O2 offering a free upgrade etc.

Now my ploy didn't work so well as I was first offered the same deal i'm on at the moment of 500 mins + 150 txts. This would be an 18mth contract with a £5 discount per mth for 6mths and then £30 tariff per mth there after + a SE C902 for £50 being the phone I want.

Apparently i'm averaging 300 mins a mth but would prefer to stick to the
500mins and 200txts would be sufficient. The girl wouldn't budge on the deal being offered so I mentioned the 3 mix+match deal where she went into sales mode.

As it was approaching closing time she decided to offer me the same tariff at £25/mth + the SE C902 for free. I said I would think about it.

Now, I would like to lower that monthly fee to at least £20 since others are getting extraordinary deals + a free phone.

What can I now say when I call again? Should I mention that i've called before, the 3 mix+match deal, what others have been offered etc?

I also want a 2GB card but I may be pushing it...

can I ask what was the deal you saw with Orange - may be able to quote that to get your deal hopefully!

It was one of the £10 deals (150 mins/300 text) I was headed for and had on-screen when I phoned in for my PAC code. The O2 Retentions offer was good enough for me - doubled the calling time and reduced the fee to £6.66/month - not bad for a quick 5 minute free call.

The mass of free off-peak text messaging that some-one else valued is not too important to me - the free O2/O2 call is quite a benefit for me as my rather large aerospace company uses this network. I can call any of my colleagues on their company phone and chat for nowt - and the wifey as her phone is O2 too!

My only regret is it's 18 months before I can have another dabble...

Igot an 18 month contract with 150 pounds credit.

£10 a month for 200 minutes and 400 texts and unlimited 02 to 02 calls, i tried to push for more minutes but she said i used an average of 124 minutes at the moment (as i try to really limit my phone calls as my monthly allowance is currently 100 mins) and that most of my calls are to 02 anyway...

so that would be £30 to pay over the entire 18 months only (approx £1.67 per month) which is great!!

Keep trying them, each adviser has a different level of budget they can offer you so you will be offered different deals each time.

How many minutes were they offering for £20/month? was that with a phone?

Hi, I've been reading some of the deals are getting and they're really good :)

I have two contracts coming up on their last month soon.
I am currently on 400mins 500txt for £35 a month, I've only been over this maybe 3/4 times, I am after a N95 8GB with similar mins, not to bothered by txt and the unlimited data, if possible push for unlimited o2 to o2 with less mins but that isn't vital.

The second contract is the same as above but regularly goes over the mins, for this one I am after a sim only offer, preferably more mins, but same with o2 to o2 would be great.

What are the best offers I should try for?

Is it best to ring up when I have a month left or should I wait till within a few days of my contract finishing? Also is it worth mentioning when I ring that I have a second contract I want to cancel or should I just try separately?

Sorry for the long post, hope someone can advise :)
    Thanks.

What if you ring and they give you a pac code to cancel when you don,t want to

They told me today that a pac code is valid for 30 days and if you have not used it by then , it becomes invalid

As long as you don't use the PAC code, your contract will just continue. It wont cancel. If you do decide to leave and the PAC has expired, you'd need to call back up for a new one.
