My contract runs out on the 6th of August. Should i be expecting a call from O2 or should i call them?

I'm not sure what to do at the moment. I do like O2 and wish to stay with them, but i want the best deal.
I thought i could get a similar deal to the one i currently have from dialaphone using redemption cheques to get cashback (i know a few people have had problems, but they've been brilliant with me) while selling my current phone on, however i'm not sure how well this will work out over the year compared to other offers.

I'm currently on £35, 400 free minutes, 500 free texts, but i never go anywhere near my limit

    Hi guys.

I've been reading this thread and many people's cheap 02 deals with envy. :)

I'm currently on 02 Simplicity (£15 p/m, 200 mins, 400 texts) and wondered whether I could get a proper contract again, but knock the price down to maybe £10 p/m.

Would that be possible? Do I persuade them to give me cashback to knock the overall price of the contract length down? What sort of deals could I compare £10 p/m to?

    Thanks for your help. :)

See my post above - same tariff, no play with retentions as of yet :(.

Boo, that's not great luck. Will you post back in here if you manage to get anything different? Thanks. :)

I called O2 earlier to see what they would offer me as my contract end this month. I told them I didn't need a new handset and I was looking to move to T Mobile on their 350 min/650 text SIM only deal at £15/month. Without too much work they offered me 400 anytime mins/1000 texts & free O2 to O2 calls for £15/month on an 18 month SIM only contract with £150 cashback.

I might try and get a similar offer to you patchman, but i want a discount on mobile broadband too.

When do you phone up? My contract has a month left, if it too early?

According to the guy I spoke to today, there's absolutely nothing available for Simplicity customers if they want to remain on a SIM only deal - regardless of the time they've been a customer.

He also said that I'd need to be with them approx 9 months before they'd do anything for me if switching to a minimum term tariff.

ianianian- call them anytime within the last month of your contract and they will transfer you onto the new deal within 48 hrs- they don't wait until the last day of your existing contract before you go onto your new plan so the earlier you ring them the better- don't bother ringing customer services, call 202 from your O2 mobile and press the options for 'thinking of leaving O2' to get straight through to customer retentions. The Mrs has just got exactly the same deal as me as she was out of contract too- with the cashback it works out at £6.66/month over 18 months which isn't bad if you ask me.

Well ... another year, another barter with O2!

    I was on O2 500 (500 xnet mins + 200 SMS) for £30 (discounted from £35)

Now been offered 800 xnet mins + 500 SMS for £25 with a free Nokia N78 (just out) and on eBay for about £200.

    Any good?

    Thanks.

Not that good I don't think (could be mistaken though). If you look over the last few pages, aren't people getting 1000 / 400 deals for only £15pm with a new handset?

they are, but on 18 month contract, and depends on monthly spend. I could do no better than £20 per month over 12 months (i dont like 18 month contracts :) ) for 400 mins 1000 txtx
