After being on a £20 12 month 500 mins/500texts after 3 calls i was given:

o2 Online 35 600mins/1000 texts and unlimited data for £25/month for 18 months with £150 credit, so £16.67 per month which suits me fine for my iPhone

What was this contract for please? what mobile?

they wont be giving discounts on the iPhone tariff or actual iPhone I can certainly say this.

Im wondering if I should phone back up and ask for a bit more to be honest as thats the same contract ive been given but without the £150 credit, how come you get offered that!! or am I too late now as I said yes to the deal I was offered?

I think the poster meant, that he probably already has a jailbroken Iphone and that this tarriff is ideal for using the iphone and internet etc.

The deal he has been offered is standard if you dont take out a phone with your contract. If its been less than 14 days since you took out your contract then call them back.

I just saved £690 over the ext 18 months by going straight to the retentions team.

previous £25 contract (400 texts 400 minutes)
£9.99 bolt on for extra texts
approx £15 a month on internet usage

= £50 a month

after a 5 minute free phone call I now have

£20 contract 600 minutes 1000 texts
no bolt on
unlimited free internet usage

= £20 a month

Also as I don't need a new handset they credited my account with £150 so I won't pay any bills for the next seven and a half months!!!

Total saving - £690 over next 18 months

After reading more on this thread and seeing people getting same contract for £20/month, I phoned back just now, and said can I drop some mins and texts and get a better discount for say £20/month, she said no as only giving unlimited web (which I defo wanted) on Online £35/month tariffs, and she said with me getting a top grade brand new phone (LG Secret) then no can do, i tried and said orange do this etc, and still in my 14days cooling off, but no go.

So I think I will stick to this 600mins+1000texts+unlimited web+free LG Secret for £25/month

Currently with O2 and pay £25 per month for 100 mins and 100 texts. Generally do not go over this and if do only a few pounds so the tariff is ideal.

Got Sony Ericsson P1i phone.

Contract is due for renewal on 1 August 2008 so looking what can get. Ideally want to stay with O2 so dont have to change numbers and such like and great coverage where I am.

Called them today and they offered me either a free phone on same tariff for 12 months. Or £15 for same tariff for 30 day contract.

Any suggestions / ways to get a better deal out of them; say free phone and reduced line rental?

Again I would find out what you want, ie phone, or like me this year I wanted web. 1st time I ever had a 18month, all networks are pushing this now.

Find deals, and they will normally beat it just like me above

i just rang up today, not sure if i got through to cancellations but i hit the keypad for the cancellations dept.
told him i just wanted to cancel and he offered me 200mins and 400 texts for 15quid and any phone.
but i have an unlocked iphone and needed data usage, so he offered me the same as u, 600mins / 1000 texts and unlimited data but for £20 a month, and then gave me a choice of any phone, so took the newest sony ericsson too. sweet!
