I called to renew my mums contract for her today.

    Was offered 600 xnet mins
    500 texts
    free o2 to o2
6500 slide (could have tried for a better phone, but this is the phone she wanted)

For £14 a month on an 18 months contract. I'm happy with that. I'm hoping I can get something like this when my contacts up in a few months.

I phoned up today. Currently on Simplicity SIM Only (200 texts, 400 mins, £15 per month).

Dialled 202 and got through to rententions. Mentioned I wanted to leave because I'd seen 3's 500 mix and match deal (£18 per month, free Sony Ericsson C902).

Was offered and accepted this straight off the bat. Might've been able to push for a free phone, but nevermind:

    400 mins, 1000 texts, free 02 to 02 calls, 18 month contract, and C902 for £49.99 - £15 per month.

I can sell the phone I have now for more than £50, so pretty pleased, especially as the C902 is going for over £200 on eBay. :)

Looking at all the offers in the above notes, I see generally they are offered £15 discount on 12/18 mth contract with a handset free or £150 credit.

I was also offered £15 discount on existing O2-500 £35/mth 12 mth contract and free handset.

I think, if I stick to my existing tariff then I will keep my 3 month rollover on mins and texts. Does anyone know if any of the 200 mins/400 txts or 400 mins/1000 txts 18 months tariffs include ROLLOVER mins/txts???.

    Hi,

Well had a word with the retentions. It seemed a bit not so
re-assuring about the N96. The lady wasn't willing to guarantee that I'd
get the phone for free or not. She just somehow was a bit more eager to
put me on the Simplicity plan.

Hmmm ... wasn't too sure I should go ahead with it or not so good fellas
I went ahead and took the N95 offer.

    £20.00 a month.
    Online-35 with £15.00 discount.
    Nokia N95 8GB.

    Not too shabby after all.

But would surely like to know from you guys here if someone has
been to Simplicity from a contract and then been able to get back
to contract with a great deal. I read about one member getting
Samsung Soul 600 in a similar manner.

But how about the completely new models ? Do they do it ?

    Cheers,

You made the right choice, and got an awesome deal!

I personally dont think the retention deals on the N96 would be very competative, simply because of the cost with it being a brand new top end N series. In the long run they still have to pull back at least the cost of the handset over the contract period, and if various website Sim Free prices are anything to go by it aint going to be cheap!

I dont think switching to Simplicity then back would affect a retention deal, as its the loyalty and history that they go off and they can see that on your account.

I will prob upgrade to the N96 next time once the firmware has had chance to bed in, and bugs to be ironed out. For the time being i am glad i went with the N95 8GB instead, very stable and a cracking piece of kit;)

Just phoned up (202 then chose to cancel) and got a Nokia N95 Black 8GB with 600 minutes 1000 text and a free bolt on (unlimited internet) for £20 a month on an 18 month contract. I must admit I'm very happy with that, it was the first thing the offered me!

When I phoned I said I'd been offered 400mins and 500txt for £25 elsewhere, was just hoping they'd match it to be honest!
  • Hi, im nearing the end of my 18 month contract and to be honest wanna stay with o2, but wanna see what i can get for my loyalty. Ive been with them for about 5 years now and have been looking around the market to see what offers are available. I'm quite interested in the deal where you can get a free ps3 on an 18 month contract for around 30 notes a month plus a new phone.

Does anyone know if o2 can offer a deal like this to exsiting customers? I've noticed there is a guy on another thread that got offered £300 to stay with orange plus a new phone and cheaper deal and was wondering if anyone had had any luck getting a deal like this, or will i have to sign up for a new contract with another network?

    Thanks

How long had you been with them for on that plan?

They offered me nothing more than I can buy online as a brand new customer :( I'm in my 4th month with them now I think - on the same tariff as you.

    Also, the C902 on 3 is £25 a month on M+M 500, no?

    Hi Kilty.

I've been with 02 for quite a few years. The bloke I spoke to said "Hm, you've been with us a while so I'll see what I can do," so I think my "loyalty" might have played a part in the deal.

Yup, the 3 deal is £25 a month once you add on the obligatory £7 per month video call package... but I just didn't mention that when I called 02. ;) And if they brought that up, I was just going to say that I'd phoned 3 and they were willing to let me take a contract with them without the £7 package. :)

Sorry you didn't get the same as me. Perhaps worth trying a few times?

I think the main problem I have is that I've not been with them for that long. Plenty of tariffs around that beat the £15 simplicity now but they just don't seem to be willing to negotiate with me.

I'd rather not leave o2 TBH - the other tariffs I can find are cheap but have slight flaws in them - for example Orange offer 100 mins + unlimited txt on an 18 month contract with a pretty poor handset BUT they charge for voicemail which o2 don't. Very few networks seem to offer MMS included in the free text allowance too.

Might just need to bite the bullet and upgrade to the £20 tariff for a bit then renegotiate ;)

Well done with that deal you got though - pretty damn good :D
