Hi peoples....our contracts are due for renewal on 23/8, so guess we will have to give our 30 days notice on 23/7, we have one more cashback due on our 12 month bill, question is when do we start to negotiate with the retentions dept about new deal?...thankssanfly0

Thanks AfternoonTea, my hubbys is up for newal next month and this deal would suit him as he needs to keep his number for work. Do you think it would be possible to lose the texts and include more minutes?? 300/400 mins and say 50 texts would be perfect.

Sanfly, don't give notice on your contract - that's not how it works. After your contract "renewal" date, you will essentially go onto a rolling one month commitment to the same deal - you're not trapped in for another year. So on or after 23rd August, give O2 a call and tell them you're looking around for new deals, and ask them what they can offer you. You might be pleasantly surprised!0

Hi Lynsey
I would certainly ask about the possibility of changing texts for minutes. Nothing ventured as they say!
You can always say your friend (me) was offered 400 mins & 50 texts and see if they could match
Good luck

I'm in exactly the same position as you - have done cashback deals for many years but feeling like I can't be bothered any more, and not fussed about getting a new phone when current contracts are up. Just to check, were you being billed directly by O2, or by the CPW? Thanks.
original contract with onestopphoneshop and no probs. Billed by carphonewarehouse O2. That's who you need to call if you don't want a cash back deal. There are others who have got better offers so read back a bit too. Will be trying for more in a week or so.0 -

All new o2 retention questions get merged with this so this has probably caused the confusion
I'm not so sure that this is what was meant - there is a separate thread specifically for CPW retentions:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=412853
I'm totally confused myself, my bill comes from CPW, originally I called '202' from my mobile but got a recorded message saying something like you are not an O2 customer, please call the number on your bill. So I logged onto my CPW account, called the number there, and was told that I had called the wrong number and they would put me through to the right place! Now I'm not sure whose customer I am! Anyway eventually I confirmed that I am CPW rather than O2, however I'm not sure why the number on the CPW site put me through to O2 upgrades...
Anyway, first call was rubbish as expected:
Free SE C902, £35pm with 600m/500t (or other way round, wasn't really listening), with £100 cashback.
Obviously will be holding out for much much more than that, ideally I want free C902, then either 1000t/400m for £15pm, or 400t/200m for £10pm with treat to increase my minutes a bit. How many calls do people reckon before they agree to this? Or, as a CPW customer, do people think this will be unattainable?
EDIT: Two further questions:
1. Are all the people who have posted on this thread genuinely O2 customers, or are any of you CPW customers who have posted on this thread because the other one was not on the 'most recent' page on this forum?
2. Does anyone have the definitive set of retentions phone numbers for O2 vs CPW, from landline vs O2/CPW number? (I.E. Presumably 4 different numbers)0 -
With one phone call (but quite a bit of pushing) I got for £15pm:
Nokia 6300
400 mins (anytime x-network)
1000 texts
UNLIMITED o2 to o2 calls
On an 18 month contract
Plus they offered me broadband for £2.50 a month (8MB, Unlimited downloads, free router etc).
What do people think of this? If this sounds like it suits them, push for it because it's 'on their system' somewhere....0 -
sorry to be a pain but can anyone point me to the number they are using to call o2 retentions etc as i cant seem to find it (prob i am being blonde)
think i need to ring them before a new month starts and they forget all about 'good' deals
many thanksWhen you know better you do better0 -
Shykins,
Either call 202 from your O2 mobile, or 0870 241 0202 from a landline - this is the monthly contract customer service number. Tell them you are looking around at deals with other networks, and ask what they can do for you.
Good luck!0 -
Hi shykins
I have an 'online' tariff, so called cust service on 0870 6003009, and there is an option 'if you are thinking of leaving us'0
