Had a good result yesterday too. Until 2 mths ago I was on the online 25 with a £5 discount so paying £20 a month with 200 mins and 400 texts. When I wanted to upgrade, the phone I wanted (samsung soul) was too much, so she suggested I go to the simplicity 1mth at a time contact at £15pm, then when the phone was reduced, change it back again.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, LCD screen broke on my u600 yesterday so I phoned o2 to see what they could do for me, came away with online 25 at 20 per month, includes free 02-02 calls (excellent as both me and hubby are o2 so it saves a fortune instead of using BT), and the samsung soul for NOTHING!!!

Very very happy, thumbs up to o2 - another customer retained!

Hi, some of you have suggested to check the O2 retention thread, is there an original O2 retention thread? As this is the No2, and I cannot seem to find the original O2 retention thread, I am very confused.

Where can I find this original post, please?

have now agreed to a no new phone 400mins 400 texts for 24months for £5/month. Don't need any internet or owt so i'll try next week to get free landline calls too.

Was on onestopphone shop 12 months free on 12 month contract for 400mins 250 texts for £35 (i think).

Have done cashback deals for last few years but it's always a worry when you hear people aren't getting them so at least this way I don't have to do anything but use my phone as per usual.

I think people meant read through this thread.

All new o2 retention questions get merged with this so this has probably caused the confusion

What an awesome deal! I'm in exactly the same position as you - have done cashback deals for many years but feeling like I can't be bothered any more, and not fussed about getting a new phone when current contracts are up. Just to check, were you being billed directly by O2, or by the CPW? Thanks.

I have been watching this thread for a while and have got some great advive from it. Just got a great deal from O2.

i was on the online 35 talker plan which is an old tariff

    800 rollover mins
O2 long weekends sat sun mon 2000mins
    200 texts
    1mb data

    £35 per mth

    i was offered

    deal 1

    sony ericsonn w760i
    1200mins
    1000text
unlimited calls to O2 or a bolt on of my choice

    £30

i told the o2 representative that i dont want to spend more than £20. he said you can stay on ur old tarrif for £20 per month. I told him i will think about it.

I left it for a few days phoned retetention back and negociated this great deal for £20 a month 18months deal

    sony ericsson w760i
    800 rollover mins
O2 long weekends sat sun mon 2000mins
    1200 texts
    1mb data

    £20.
    :jim well chuffed

If ur coming to the end of ur contract best advice i can give is say you dont want to spend more than a certain amount a month then ask for extras. If they say no phone back you will get put through to somone else.

I've had a Simplicity tariff for a little under 2 months (online 15), so tried my luck to see if I could get a retention deal as i fancy a new handset. I was fairly sceptical due to the fact that although i had been an O2 customer for years with a different number, the mobile number that my Simplicity tariff is on has only been active for 2 months.

I was after an N95 8gb, and told them i had been offered a deal on another network, blah blah so they offered me

    A free N95 8GB
    600 Anytime Mins
    1000 texts
1 Bolt on (Web in my case)
    18 month contract
    £25 pm

Well chuffed as it was a first attempt, and was exactly what i wanted. So it seems that even if you have been on a Simplicity tariff they will still offer you a retention deal.

    Thumbs up to O2 :T

hi all, i'm new to the forums and this thread caught my eye.
I'm currently on O2PayAsYouGo and would like to change to monthly soon as i''l be starting a new job in august thus changing my requirements. If i were to do this, do i contact the O2 retention people?
also i can't find how the calling and receiving process goes. With retention deals, do you call them, negociate best deal for yourself. Once done, do they send a letter of confirmation for the deal or do they simply for example, send you the new phone you negociated and start taking money from your account.

Sorry if this information has already been post
  • Hoping this will help someone

Mine & OH's contacts were due recently, managed to get the following each

    200 anytime mins
    400 texts
Unlimited free O2 to O2 calls
Should be £25 per mth, discounted to £10 per mth
£150 credit (instead of an upgrade)

Credit will cover the first 15mths, so 18mths contract only costing £30 :j

First phonecall was offered a £100 credit with 50 mins & 200 texts £20 per mth. Second call to retentions (said friend was offered much better deal) was offered above but only £100 credit. Third call was offered the above and accepted it

In your situation i would phone the Pay as you Go team and ask`for your PAC code and tell them you have been offered a new deal by another network. Not sure how Pay as you Go work, or whether they would be able to offer you anything with you not being in contract but it wouldnt hurt to find out. One thing is for sure the Pay as you Go team can switch you over to a contract with a new phone (i have done this myself in the past) - however whether they have the power to offer any deals is another story. The retention team that is being discussed in this thread deal with contract customers, not Pay as you Go although i may be wrong.
