Yes, you can use any 02 mobile number you like (as long as it's not already being used for another broadband discount). There doesn't have to be any family connection whatsoever. However she will need to top up with a minimum £10 per quarter to keep the discount.

Thanks. But does the mobile number need to be registered to the same person who has the broadband contract? If not, I could even use my housemate's number.

No-you can use any number at all, as I already said.
If it's a PAYG phone it won't necessariiy be registered to an individual anyway.
The only requirement is the quarterly top-up.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I spoke to a lovely lady earlier at 02 retentions. I called saying I was thinking of leaving ( my contract is ready for upgrade now) as I'd seen better deals on IPhone 4's at 3.
She went through a few deals and asked what my usage was like. She offered me

    iPhone 4 black refurb
    12 months at £26.50 pm
    £150 for the handset

    300 mins
    500 Txts
    500mb data
    20 free pic messages

Or as above but 18 months for £77 for the handset.

I took the 18 months as I don't have £150 at the moment. I wish I could of taken the 12 months one. They both seem a good deal

She didn't take the £77 from me on the phons though. So not sure if she forgot or it will be in my first bill? If it was in my bill I could of got the £150 together.

Anyone know if these are Apple refurbs, O2 refurbs or a 3rd party?

If the handset upgrade cost is less than £100 it is added to your next bill. If it is more you pay by card.

I just sold my iphone 4 for £310, going to use a cheap £10 handset now until the next one comes out, and will save up the difference. My contract is only £11 per month don't want to take out a ridiculously expensive contract to get a new phone in a few months

They are 14 day returns that are re-sold. You still get a 12m warranty like you do with a new handset and you also still get the 14 day cooling off period.

I've just phoned for my PAC code and was offered the below which I took.

    Iphone 3GS 8GB
    300 mins
    Unlimited Text
    500 mb of internet

    £21.50 a month for 24 months

I was just about to buy a brand new iphone 3GS from a guy on Ebay for £230 then go onto Giff Gaff for £10 a month for
    250 mins
    Unlimited Text
    Unlimited Internet

By going through O2, i know I'm getting a "proper" phone with warranty, 500mb of internet is probably enough and i keep my £5 a month broadband discount, I could of used my GF's number to keep that though.

I'm really sorry to say, that is a rubbish deal. Iphone 3GS is more or less coming to the end of its life now, and signing up to a 2 year contract for £21.50 a month for 300 mins doesnt really look that good a deal to me.

If you were after an Iphone 3GS you can find one for around 200-230 on various places on the net, and then get a sim only contract of your choice . That way youre not tied in to a long term contract and free to change phones whenever :)
