Out of contract with my iphone 3gs i was looking at the samsung galaxy s2. Found a 12mth contract on talkmobille through mobiles.co.uk with 400 any network mins, 100 texts and 1gb data for £30 a month and £99 for handset. Phoned retentions and the lady could not come close to the offer. Best she could do was a 24 month contract at £31 per month and £59 for hanset with similar talktime, texts and data. Ive been with O2 for 6 years and this is the first time thay have not come close to other deals i have quoted. The lady actually said wow that is a really good deal. So i asked for my PAC code and are now awaiting my Galaxy S2. I didnt have any problems with 02 but to get a 12 mth contract with a great phone and no ridiculous handset charge is too good to miss. Bye bye 02.0

Called up a few weeks ago to renew contract. Was on iphone deal for £33 a month which gave me 600 mins, 500 texts, 500 MB data and wifi + 20 MMS. Wanted to reduce bills down as moved in with the OH since getting married and ended up going for sim only deal for £15.50 a month - 600 mins, ult texts, 500MB data, 20 MMS. Happy enough with that - shaved my bill in half.Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34
Mortgage starting balance at Sept 09 - £127,224 on 30 year term. Currently balance approx £116,945 (Updated Jan '12)

Was on an old Smartphone tariff with unlimited 3G data/WiFi, 600 mins, 500 texts, International Traveller Service, 4 inclusive texts = 1 MMS/4 inclusive texts = 1 International text, and Unlimited O2 to O2 at £35/month.
Called retentions with specific details of a 12 month SIM Only T-Mobile tariff + Quidco cashback and asked for PAC code because couldn't see anything remotely comparable on the O2 website or via online upgrade.
Offered and accepted, 600 mins, Unlimited texts, 20 MMS, 500MB 3G Data/Unlimited WiFi, 20 MMS, ITS, Unlimited O2 to O2 for £15.50/month on a Simplicity 12 month contract. Includes a £5 "loyalty" discount and £50 Amazon.co.uk voucher. Not too shabby, especially because it lets me keep the £5 O2 broadband discount on the older unlimited premium home broadband tariff at £13/month.0 -
Been looking around as my phone is looking old and tired now, Samsung G600
Been with O2 for a number of years now and have been on Simplicity £10 per month for 300 mins, unlimited texts and free O2 to O2 calls.
This suited me fine as all my friends and family are on O2 so saved a fortune on calls. Had a look at the O2 website and there isn't one tariff that includes the free O2 to O2 calls anymore. I phoned the CS last week and was told that they are re-introducing the free calls on new tariffs in September. Anyway, I'm the one with absolutely NO patience whatsoever when it comes to getting a new phoneSo, I called CS retentions again today and spoke to a lovely lad called Adam, told him I was thinking of leaving as the only thing keeping me with O2 was the free calls. He asked what I wanted and I told him the Galaxy S II with unlimited texts, 300 mins, 500 data and free O2 to O2 calls, he said no problem ! So I've got my deal for £27 instead of £35 per month, and a brand new top of the range free phone. Looking forward to Monday when its being delivered :T

I spoke to retentions yesterday and frankly they didn't give me a good deal, can I go into the o2 store and haggle with them?0

Like many others I have been with O2 since the Cellnet days. Over the last two years the contracts are just not competitive for me anymore.
Anyway yesterday after waiting for an hour on the 202 number to speak to retentions this is what they offered on a Galaxy S II:
300mins + unlimited O2-O2 calls + Unlimited Texts + 100mb Data
£24.00 pm x 24 + £89.99 for the phone = £665.99 cost for 2yrs
Or
600mins + unlimited O2-O2 calls + Unlimited Texts + 500mb Data
£29.00 pm + £59.99 for the phone + £755.99
I have found loads of better value tariffs with other networks and as I have my PAC I am currently deciding on the following as the extra minutes will more than cover what I use in O2-O2 calls:
1. Tesco (uses the O2 network)
750mins + 5000 Texts + 500mg Data
£25.00 pm x 24 + £50.00 for the phone (Quidco £35 cash back)
Total for 2 yrs £615.00 + Clubcard Points
Hope others have more luck with O2 than me.0 -
I've just been on to o2, went straight through to retentions with laptop in front of me showing what deals i could get elsewhere, the girl pricematched virgin mobile on a sony ericsson ray for £18.50 a month with 400 mins, 500 texts and 500mb of data - compared to o2 shop yesterday who would be £27 a month for 300 mins, unlimited texts (which i wouldnt use) and 500mb data. decent deal although could possibly have pushed for more, having alternatives in front of you definately helps.0

Spoke to retentions yesterday was on an old £35p/m 3gs contract with unlimited data etc. Did not want the iphone4 as its 18months old and the iphone 4s did not do much for me either. Wanted the iphone5
Then looked at the samsung S2 and got offered free handset and £27.50p/m *24 or £37.50p/m *18. I never had a 24 month contract and did not want to start one now.
So total cost around £660-675. Now can get giffgaff for £10p/m for same info plus unlimited data which i do average around 400mb-600mb (sky apps, video etc). Now the handset is £400 as PAYGO and either cost me £580 or £640 but the main thing is i'm not tied in. So can change again when the new iphone comes out, or if i am happy with the samsung and android keep that.
Not sure if the samsung will hold its value like an iPhone does though, my old 2g iPhone which is 4 years old is still getting around £120-£150 on ebay.0
