Did they not put you through to retentions when you rang to ask for your PAC?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi Macman,
If you are referring to my post, that's precisely what they did last time. This time I have not yet asked for a PAC no as I was hoping they would offer me a new handset without the hassle, since that's all I really need. As they haven't come up with the goods, I've now done my homework and know the specifics of better deals I can get from Virgin, TMobile, Three and Tesco (...for starters!) so I'll go back and request my PAC and see what they have to say.
Generally I don't go back to suppliers for price matching without a good reason, (if someone else offers me a better deal I'm more likely to take them up on it) but since changing networks is a bit of a hassle and O2's coverage and service has been good up until now i'd be happy to let them convince me to stay if they can match.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
O2 will quite happily let you leave. They don't do "retentions" anymore.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

Tesco mobile uses the O2 network
I recently left O2 and moved to Tesco, customer service is good and coverage is the same as o2.
I get 500mins and 5000messages for £10!
It was worth paying the £60 to get out of my 02 contract early (my phone had broke and 02 were not being helpful at letting me upgrade early even with paying to end contract unless i went to an Iphone)Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

If it was a contract without internet you could have bought a basic unlocked replacement phone for 1p+£10-cashback (i.e. with a profit after selling the sim with the balance).0 -

Fair enough, but surprised they suggested calling back in that case. They've been getting my money for several years but if they won't try to match what others are offering, they'll lose a customer. I'll be better off than I would have been with them...what will they gain?Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -

Three things to consider:
They claim to have a below average churn rate and that most customers who leave come back because they don't get the same overall service elsewhere.
They are experiencing growth (so if you leave they can replace you easily).
What that means is that its better for them to stop giving cut price deals, because they don't need to.0 -

I got a Samsung galaxy ace 100 mins 500 sms 100mb Data Unlimited calls to Landlines, Unlimited calls to o2 numbers for £16.50 on a 12 month contract via retentions.
The length of time you've been with them counts for nothing, its how you use your tariff. If you stay within your allowance and don't make them any money then you don't get any discount.
My bills are frequently over with international roaming, and i use the data abroad sometimes.0
