Currently on this:
24 month contract
200 minutes/400 texts
Free unlimited O2 to landline calls
£10pm
£150 immediate credit to cover the first 15 months
So: £3.75 pm net over the 24 months
Sadly, it's shortly coming to an end and I need a new contract. I'm guessing from recent comments, though, that the chances of getting anything anywhere near as cheap from O2 are remote.
Has anyone managed anything similar, or is Tesco my best bet for a cheap deal? Thanks for any help.
Unsurprisingly, O2 weren't interested in offering any discounted tariffs. Best offer was a £150 credit instead of a new phone.
So I'm off to Orange - picked up a cheap cashback deal from e2save in the end.
24 month contract with 400 minutes, Unlimited Landline minutes and 300 texts for just under £24 in total for the full 24 month period. Free Nokia 1800 included, and Topcashback of £46, so the entire contract actually gives me a profit of £22, plus the phone.
e2save cashbacks are fine if you're organised and make the cashback claims on time - forget it if you're not!0 -
Just spoke to O2 to confirm what my official contract end date is and had a bizarre conversation.
Here goes:
Me: "Could you confirm what the actual contract expiry date is as the website says 11th April but just want to know for sure."
Confirms details....
o2: "I can confirm that the end date is the 11th May but you can break the contract whenever you want. If you want the pac number it will be with you in 2 hours. You can upgrade on the 11th April with o2 or CPW if you want on that day"
Me: "OK. Thanks for that. I just wanted to know so I don't get lumbered with even more costs than I've already paid out for" (had to buy a replacement handset due to a fault with the original one)
o2: "Anything else I can help you with today?"
Me: "No, that's fine thanks"
o2: "Ok. Bye"
Didn't even ask if I'd seen anything or try and sell me a new package/early upgrade, bearing in mind it's only 6 weeks until the upgrade date.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
When I cancelled my simplicity contract a week ago, the o2 operator asked if I found another deal somewhere else... When I said about the Tesco Mobile Iphone deal he was just said "ah, yeah. thats a great deal. can't argue with that really".
To me, that's great customer service... I don't want to be pressured or pestered.
I've always found o2 to be the most reliable network I've ever used and would always recommend them to anyone. I hope Tesco are as good.0 -

Wonder if the O2 Rep will come on....Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

...and yet, isn't there an advert on the telly at the moment for o2 saying just the opposite? That if a customer sees an offer that is better than the one they already have, o2 will match it?

Yes, they are.
That's better O2 deals for new customers that will be matched for existing ones.0 -

I take it by that remark that you are/were a CPW customer then ???
Perhaps that was the problem or maybe it was because you will not be ready to deal untill the 11th April ???
I've always found it's a waste of time taliking to anyone untill closer to the time as any deal disussed tends to be pie in the sky
It's rare for the O2rep to post on here a quick look shows last in on Valentines early morning and last post made a few days before ChristmasIt's not just about the money0 -
There are retention deals, but the long and short is if they don't make much from you as a customer, they won't be sad to see you go. It's now nothing to do with loyaly, but about your spend level.
Retentions may call, when I've left o2 in the past I've had a call from retentions a few days later, but if your on a discounted deal anyway they may not want to keep you.
Big spenders get good deals. Most people get the same as everyone else.
For every person leaving o2 to go elsewhere there will be someone coming to o2 from elsewhere.0 -
My contract with o2 via cpw is coming to an end soon and I need to get a good deal to stay on o2 because I have their broadband. I rang both cpw and the best they could do was £10/month for 300 minutes to mobiles, plus unlimited landline and texts. Also rang o2 and they said they now only offer the same standard deal to existing and new customers. Agent did say though that new packages were going to be launched in March....0

Tesco Mobile is 50% owned by O2 and it uses the O2 network so they probably don't care if you go there.0
