  • hmmm perhaps a phone call to them is in order? my boyfriend actually said he would prefer to stay with o2 - we are buying a new phone which u need to top up £10 to buy so that would give us 3 months left on o2 broadband but im paying way to much for my landline. all 3 with them would probally be easy as weve got a goot internet connection and never had any problems.

will get boyfriend to phone when he gets in thanks
  • My 18 month O2 iPhone contract has just come up for renewal so gave O2 a call today hoping they'd be able to offer me a sweet deal...

They didn't even try to keep me!! Straight up offered me the PAC code and didn't put me through to retentions. I've been an O2 customer for over 5 years now - Ridiculous.

I wanted a rolling month-by-month contract as I will be abroad and want to wait for the next gen of smart phones later this summer - the best she could offer me was £20 for 300 mins, unlim texts, and 500mb data (not iPhone).

Wouldn't budge at all when I gave them a chance to up their offer after quoting a few other deals. Think I'll be going on the Sim-only Tesco deal until later in the summer.

    Boooo O2
  • Have just changed my iphone 3 for an iphone 4 with o2. Rang upgrades who quoted me £199 etc for iphone 4. Rang retentions this weekend who offered me a reconditioned iphone 4 - said it had been returned within 14 days by a customer, so was 'new' and guaranteed for 12 months. I paid £62 for the iphone with a £30.64 per month for 24 months on 300 mins, 500mb and unlimited texts. Have checked the o2 site and I should get £199 for my old phone, so am really happy. HTH

Worst part about this contract is the new handset that apple will no doubt release in summer..

    Otherwise good deal!
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!
  • I have been on the phone chasing them for days now about my upgrade. I asked for my PAC code as I'd spotted another deal with Carphone Warehouse, which fell through thanks to my credit rating (I can buy a house but not a phone..?), so I had to go back and resurrect a deal with O2 retentions...

'Secured' an HTC Mini HD - Free, 300mins, unlim txts, 18 months - £30p/m and was promised next day delivery. Still no phone 3 days later so when I rang they said that the phone has been withdrawn and I'd have to renegotiate my upgrade with retentions...

Passed from pillar to post as no-one knew how to process my upgrade, I was now paying for a smartphone tariff without actually having a smartphone. One member of staff actually suggested I hang up and phone to get speaking to someone else! Final straw came when one guy lost the connection as he tried to put me on hold and when I called back I couldn't get through to upgrades as my next upgrade date would be July 2012!

I went to the o2 store today to explain my situation and hoped to have it sorted properly, face-to-face, but the best the girl could do was let me use the store phone... Finally got a straight-talker who made sure I got speaking to someone half-sensible in retentions who offered me -

    Re-conditioned iPhone 3 for £45
    24 month contract @ £25 a month
    100 mins
    Unlimited texts
    500mbs Data

I know it's not the best deal found on this thread but after the week I've had telling each staff member my story from the beginning I was glad to reach a resolution and accepted.

Currently have the "online 35" 18 month contract with a Blackberry 8900- paying £35 per month. Currently spend around £40 per month.

Just called retentions and was offered a SIM only deal (month to month) for £20 per month inc:

    300 minutes
    500 texts
    unlimited data

reconditioned Iphone 4 would be £35-£40 pm (plus £180 to buy, alhough not in stock at the moment)
HTC Desire would be around £30-£35 pm

Anyone come across anything better, or been offered similar. Will talk to Vodaphone et. al the afternoon to see if I can beat it.

After 3 calls managed to get:

    iPhone 3 for free (Re-conditioned)
    24 month contract @ £25 a month
    300 mins calls
    Free landline calls.
    Unlimited texts
    500mbs Data

Pleased. Dont think that pushing any harder would have got me anything more.

  • I have an iPhone 3GS, 18 month contract at £35pm, finished last week. I never really use minutes but text lots, often going over my allowance, meaning O2 were getting a fairly nice £40-£45 from me a month.

Phoned up O2 twice, and the response I got was the same both times:

" A simplicity SIM only contract is the best we can offer you." - not even a reduction in price from the high street cost!

The second time I told them I was going to switch to 3 with their £15pm rolling contract, which offers 1GB of internet and 3000 texts, and was just told "We wish you good luck with them". I'm surprised they couldn't even do a pricematch to make some more guaranteed money from me.

So I phoned up 3 telling them I wanted to jump ship from O2 and they gave me the £15pm rolling contract with the first month free and a £20 accessories voucher. Amazing stuff :O
  • Hi,

Just looking for a quick bit of insight - apologies if posting in wrong place!

I'm coming to the end of a 24 month contract on O2, and by the end of the period will have spent a considerable amount (£4.5k+) with them. To renew, I'd want a free iPhone on a good tariff - but how realistic is this? There are other, better offers out there (esp. re: unlimited Internet usage), but I'd stay with them for a good price. How much leverage is my billing amount likely to get me, though?

Also, what's the best way to go about getting this?

    Any insight valued. :)

    Thanks!

You should be classes as a Platinum customer with that level of spend providing it's been constant over the length of your contract (have you spent over £1.5k with them in the past 12 months?). Basically that means you should have a named account manager, your own customer service number (dial 402 instead of 202/2302) and you're going to qualify for 6 months early upgrade and much better retentions deals. My advice would be spend an hour or so finding the best deals (hint: try Tesco) then phone up 402, say you're looking to leave for that deal and see what they'll offer you.
