Why are o2 not interested in keeping your custom and looking to match competitor deals. Just rang up to enquire baout an Iphone 4 and the cost was much higher than elsewhere, in fact higher than going direct to to places like dial a phone who also offer the o2 network.

    Very confusing.

I was on £20 for unlimited internet, texts and 600 minutes and spent on average £26 per month.

Finally bit the bullet and signed-up to a 24 month deal with:
    HTC Desire
    500 minutes
    Unlimited O2 to O2
    500 meg internet
    Unlimited wi-fi

£30 PCM - would have been £25 without the wi-fi (although I can take this off in the future).

He confirmed also that there is no additional cost for going-over 500meg - "just" restricted service, which seems better than the sanctions that some networks impose.

I know I could get a "better" deal elsewhere on other networks (and possibly even on O2 with Carphone Warehouse or Phones4U?) but I've had great customer service from O2 directly and discounted broadband and don't consider it an unreasonable price.

I also tried T-Mobile and Orange PAYG SIMS and the reception was terrible on Orange. The only thing that turned my head was the excellent T-Mobile £7.50 deal which I'm sure will have been a fantastic contract for many people.

Thanks to everyone who has updated on the O2 thread and good luck to those haggling for new deals!

I'm confused - The 500Mb internet is using your sim to connect. Wifi means to connect to a wireless network eg a home network. This should not be costing you extra!

To those who have struggled upgrading - sometimes it does seem they dont want you to stay, but before leaving, its worth phoning 3 or 4 times as you will get vastly different offers.
  • Here's a tip - if you're leaving O2 but have their broadband (and are outside of a contract on it).. you can phone them up and tell them you'll leave if they don't give you back a 5 quid discount :)

I did that this week and signed up for another year of 7.50 unlimited 8mb broadband (to get that as a non-O2 customer it would now cost 17 a month)

The unlimited wi-fi is via BTOpenzone and/or The Cloud (depends on tariff).

Nope, I think a lot of BT customers get access if they've signed up to certain internet packages or give others access to their connection, but everybody else has to pay, at least they've always tried to charge me when I've attempted to connect and I can't see any free option on btopenzone.com

it is such a fantastic deal, why don't you just continue that.
I mean 24 months is the minimum term of contract, and if your credit(or discount) is not limited to first 24 months, then it will just carry on unless O2 tells you otherwise.

unfortunately it was limited to 24months and now the price has jumped to £29.99 a month, hence wishing to negotiate again

Just phoned o2 for a 24 month retentions deal...

The best they could do for a HTC Desire in black was:

    Handset £89
    Tariff £30 a month
    300 mins
    Unlimited SMS
    500Mb Data / Web

Despite being with o2 since it was Cellnet, they could offer no loyalty deals.

When I asked for the PAC Number they offered me the handset for £59 on the same deal or a HTC 7 for £59 also on the same deal.

Shame really as I would have liked to have stayed with o2, but I can't afford to throw money away.

The new provider contract I am going for is:

    Orange
    HTC Desire - Free
    Panther 30 - £27.50 a month.
(Unlimited texts, 300 anytime minutes, email, internet, photo messages, sat nav).

    Plus £80 cashback from TopCashBack.

Got this on the orange website. Anybody know of any better deals at the moment?
