Currently on this:
24 month contract
200 minutes/400 texts
Free unlimited O2 to landline calls
£10pm
£150 immediate credit to cover the first 15 months
So: £3.75 pm net over the 24 months
Sadly, it's shortly coming to an end and I need a new contract. I'm guessing from recent comments, though, that the chances of getting anything anywhere near as cheap from O2 are remote.
Has anyone managed anything similar, or is Tesco my best bet for a cheap deal? Thanks for any help.0 -
Is it just me or have people started to get seriously silly? I've read the past 4 pages and not seen ONE good deal I would take it anything over £5 per month after selling the phone is a NO GO.
People are being totally shafted by O2, i've been with O2 CPW for about 5 years, and i've never had to pay more than £5 per month! Currently I pay £5 per month for 600mins unltd txts and 1GB internet (cashback deal). Things do not look good for me.
Combined with quidco, selling the phone and refer a friend - Three offer the best deals (I'm ashamed to say - they are a crap network). Recently I got 300min and match and internet, £12 x 24mths + £30 RAF, + £100 quidco, sold phone for £125 = £33 over 24 months!
THATS A DEAL! Not this crap.0 -
Hi all, o2 iphone 3gs contract has ended. I don't want a new phone yet as waiting for the iphone 5. I see there is an 02 pay as you go "text and web" tariff giving 300 free texts and 500mb data when you top up by £10 each month. This sounds like it will be perfect to last me until I am looking for a new phone. I don't want to mess about with a new number and new sim card. Will they give an equivalent deal like this on a rolling 30 day pay monthly contract?0

Evening all,
Really quick one as i'm sure that i'll have missed a thread about this.
I've just rang O2 to ask about upgrading my contract and the woman said that I should just look online as they no long do offers/ discounts for existing customers - is this the case?
In fact, I picked a Blackberry torch as an example and she actually quoted me a more expensive contract and an additional fee fot the phone than is available on the O2 website! (can't believe that is right!)0 -
happened to me also, i suppose i knew it was coming after the 02 retentions thread has not been very active, and the last posts have been more or less a verbal diatribe towards 02
my story was that i have been on an 18mth contract, this ended last month and i got a text saying this month your bil will be £36, i was like !!!!!!!
i rang up and was told my discounted period had come to the end of its life and i was now to pay full price
as i am currently in between jobs at present, i opted for a rolling simplicity sim that has basically halved my minutes, and now receive a paltry 500mb data allowance, but i still get charged the same
i was offered some crap blackberrys FOC if i was to sign up for another 24 months
my mrs wants a new phone, and in the guise of an iphone or blackberry torch, so i rang upgrades yesterday:
could have blackberry torch, 24mths contract, £25.53 a month and £90 for handset- that is the best the geezer could do, i asked if this was open to everyone and he said yes, he suggested i speak to retentions
to which i did, the woman i spoke to had complete t-watitude!
i explained that i had spoken to somebody earlier and quoted price, and said how can this be customer loyalty if anybody could get it at that price- new or existing
she said 02 deals are designed to be fair for all, if i didnt like it i could go elsewhere
nice customer service 020 -
02 seem to have "lost" their retentions department ! Friend of mine been with 02 for 15 years (so long time customer) and spends fairly average amount (£40 pm) got told that when he wanted a bit of loyalty couple of quid off to price match a competitor then he better go to them and gave him his PAC. 02 seem to have gone down the road that it doesnt matter how long you have been with them its one price for all ! I am sure that they will live to regret this now that they are No 3 in the UK network market (behind EE and Voda)0

...and yet, isn't there an advert on the telly at the moment for o2 saying just the opposite? That if a customer sees an offer that is better than the one they already have, o2 will match it?

Thanks for the replies guys - i'm sorry you haven't got good offers, but at the same time i'm glad it wasn't just me!
I do think these contracts have gone downhill since i last looked. A few people have said that the offers have improved, but that's only because they you have to sign up to longer contracts - 2 years is a long time when so many people are losing their jobs!
My girlfriend got offered a vitrually identical deal in phones4u and i tried dialaphone and the deals aren't what they used to be - looks like i'm going to have to sign up to a 2 year contract!0 -
Looks like the first signs of providers looking to make a better per user profit .
Some O2 shops closing as well .

O2 were quite generous to me today and they didn't have to be. I'm only in month 5 of my contract and I get 300 mins and unlimited sms for £25 I called them up and asked how much to buy myself out. £450 they wanted, and when they asked why I said I have a blackberry now and i can't use it.
They changed me to a new tariff with 500 mins unlimited sms 500 data free o2 to o2 calls and free calls to landlines, and i didn't have to start a new contract for £25. Very happy with that.0
