  • I've been dithering for a while but I'm finally moving my number from O2 to Giffgaff next week. I understand that it is owned by O2 but it is also a competing network with different ideas.

O2 has just become to big for its boots and doesn't seem to care about its customers anymore. Hopefully if more people make a stand then they'll soon see the error of their ways.
  • After reading all the comments over the past few months on this subject I decided not to renew my contract with O2 which ends on 15th October. My O2 plan was 600 mins, 1000 texts and unlimited internet for £25 ( I had buy a Tocco Ultra for £49).

I have looked about over the last few days and settled for the following from TMobile :

Nokia E72 and paying £53 pound upfront
(I went through Quidco and obtained a £20 Cashback so bringing cost down to £33)

    Pay Monthly Plan 15st (24 months) £15

Free internet for life of contract ( deal on until 20th Sept )

    A FREE flexable unlimitedText booster.

Order was placed online this morning and should be delivered within 48 hrs.

    :T Well done TMobile

Can I just ask, how do you find T-Mobile reception compared to O2? I'm thinking of moving to T-Mobile as well.

  • I am told that the reception in my area (West Lothian) is alright. I had asked my sister in-law if she had had any problems. I knew that both her and my niece had bought new phones in January but I did not realise that they have infact been with TMoble for 4 years and had no problems with them. That was another reason for switching to them from O2. Only time will tell I suppose.

I'm on 200 mins/200 texts/free web at the moment, got it 18 months ago for £10 a month and £150 cashback (£1.66 a month). Due for renewal end September.

Phoned up today, the best they can do will cost me £20 a month. Got my PAC, they didn't even try to keep me, so once it arrives I'm off to T-Mobile...

I wonder how Telefonica's finances are doing - not good I'd wager
  • An update to the post I made earlier.
I have the plan I mentioned but I got it for £10 pm !!!!
    100 Mins
    Unlimited Text
    Unlimited Internet
Cost of Phone (Nokia E72) £53

I phoned them this morning to confirm that I got everything.
    Not bad eh?

Can I also say that after I confirmed it (3 times) the gorl on the phone asked me if I wanted a second line for £8 pm.
Unfortunaylay I could not take up the offer as the rest of the family are on contract til next year on O2.
  • marky52 - that sounds like a pretty good deal.. hope you like your E72. Make sure you install Ovi maps - it's the best thing about owning a nokia

    Hi Marky,

If you ordered your tmobile deal online for £15pm how did it get changedd to £10??

O2 were able to offer me... NOTHING different to new customers. Poor show. And they dont have any refurbished phones or know when they are getting any in.
  • Familiar story here folks, 02 not giving a crap about keeping it's customers.

Had 2 contracts with 02 via CPW for 6+ years now, normally ring up at end of contracted period and am offered some level of discount to stay with them.

Very different this time. Wasn't offered any discount. Only deals available are the same as ones on the web and in store. I said i might as well leave if no incentive to stay with them. I was told they would email me a disconection form. I've now received it and have filled it in and sent it back. Unless they ring me between now and my contract actually ending then it'll goodnight 02. Shame.

The deal i had was £15 pm for 600 mins and 1000 text msgs on an 18month contract - with no phone upgrade. It's now gone back up to the normal £30 pm. Monthly usage is less than 300mins these days. So when you sum that up, i'm paying £30 pm for a sim only deal and only using 300 mins. Very expensive. So was hoping to reduce my inclusive mins and get a new phone. Currently using an N95 from the previous contract which is a bit outdated, looking for something like Galaxy S or similar. Was hoping they'd offer me it for £25pm. Didn't think that was unreasonable.

Saying i'm dissapointed is an understatement.

Same for me - nothing offered by retentions so got my PAC code and off I go, bit of shame as had no problems at all in my time with them and repairs etc were all done in a timely manner
