Well was not hopeful on my upgrade after reading here for a while. Been an o2 customer since the BT cell net days, got all family on O2 over the last few years as well. well no more for me offered same deal as new customers only no loyalty discount. I am thinking of going to CPW for a deal on Sony ericsson xperia mini prox10. its with talk mobile. (£50 for phone 200 mins 1000 texts and 500mb of date = £20 a month/12 month contract).
Has anyone used or heard of talk mobile, what are they like?

I see that O2 are not really competitive as I think they've got all the market share they want (or can cope with).
Due for renewal in less than 2weeks and don't have time nor care for the hassle. Ideally would like a new phone to save me from my ghastly N78 but thinking of going Sim only either the 30day rolling or the 12 month one to wait things out to see if they get better.
In my ideal world, would love an Android phone for £20/month and at least 800xnet minutes....Tough times never last longer than tough people.0 -

Aargh! I hate three! Have they changed/improved? I've stuck with O2 as they seem to have the most reliable network. The three network was terrible when i was with them..

I'm under the impression that O2 is not bothered about retaining existing customers especially ones that are less profitable. They seem to be more focused on other ventures such as providing services to MVNO such as Giffgaff (fully owned), Tesco Mobile (50% share), LycaMobile etc.
The only other thing I can think of is that O2 is trying to trim it's customer base so that it can take over 3 mobile.
O2 were previously looking to purchase/merge with T-mobile but because O2 has such a large percentage of UK customer base it would not be possible under the Competition Act.
These are my theories anyway...I maybe wrong, nevertheless it's awfully difficult to work out O2's customer retention policy!:rotfl:0 -
Spoke to O2 yesterday. No offers, basically what's on their website. Shocked to find that their sim only deals do not inlcude internet as standard. Even more shocked to discover that if you wanted internet, you'd have to pay £5 more and LOSE your unlimited landline or O2-O2 minutes!!
Actively exploring other networks. Will probably move my other number to O2 PAYG and port my main one away from O2.Tough times never last longer than tough people.0 -

I'm on the same deal (can't afford the iphone though!) and my contract expires soon too. I have phoned O2 and got the no current discounts tale. I went into Carphone Warehouse yesterday and the man nearly fell over with shock when I told him about my current contract. He suggested a vodafone deal but I'm wondering about Tesco and keeping the phone I have at the mo.
Like you I use about 300mins/200 texts. Would be interested to hear what you decide to do!0 -
I have been with o2 for years, since they were cellnet. I have a few products from them - three mobiles, home broadband, mobile broadband. This month I requested PAC codes for two of the mobiles, because their iphone 4 deals didnt seem competitive. On both those calls they asked if they could offer something to keep me, but when I gave them a chance all they offered were the same uncompetitive deals that they were offering in store/on the website. I told them no and both times they just gave the PAC code without trying to keep me. One of the mobiles was only on £25 per month contract, and I hardly used it so most of that £25 must have been profit for them. The other was spending £35 per month.
Guess they dont want customers0 -
Same here. Told them I was off to Orange, free HTC Desire, 300mins, 3000txts and unltd Internet, £25 month, 18 months.
They came back with 300mins, unltd text and Internet, £30, 24 months, and a £40 odd charge for the phone!
When I said that is hardly competitive he agreed and I now have my PAC. Clearly they are not bothered. Oh well, looks like I'll be visiting Odeon a little bit more in the next 18 Months!0
