Rang again.
600 mins
unlimited texts
500mb internet
free htc desire
24 months
£30 month
(Samsung Galaxy S on the same deal was £35 month and £50 for handset)
Plus if you go over the 500mb internet browsing your internet gets cut off until the next bill!
New deal for vodafone although similar you get 500mb more internet usage and the choise of the galaxy s at no extra cost compared to o2
600 mins
unlimited texts
1gb internet
free htc desire or samsung galaxy s
24 months
Bye bye o20 -
Not bad jonnypb. I've read some getting Quotes that cost far more than that and would have expected to pay around £35pcm for that. It's still not near what Orange are offering but getting closer. I guess that includes unlimted BT wi-fi which is something that Orange doesn't give...0

Hi all,
jonnypb, thanks for the above info. I think I have exactly the same deal with o2 that you previously had. The 'Online 35' with a £15 discount with a Nokia 5800 and same usage allowances.
My current 18 month contract is up on 31st Oct and I, like you, was looking for the same terms but hoping for a Samsung Galaxy S thrown in too. I also have a separate o2 Broadband £7.50 pm.
I was wondering if you were in the same position and, if so, did you try to factor this into your bargaining with retentions?
Ideally, I would prefer to stay with o2 and am going to ring them on Thursday to see what they can offer me. I can't afford to pay any more than my current outlays but my Nokia is knackered and I would really like a Galaxy S to replace it.
If you, or any other kind soul, could give me any further tips or pointers that might help in negotiations I would be very very grateful.

The 2nd person I spoke to it was £35 a month but when I rang up the 3rd time the woman said something about they can put me on a higher tariff as they know I won't use anywhere near the 600 mins which meant they could offer a better discount which was £5 off the line rental and the htc desire for free. Doesn't include the BT wi-fi just 500mb web bolt on. The wi-fi was an extra £50 -

Yes I'm on the same deal as you but don't have the o2 broadband. I have broadband elsewhere which works out cheaper for me.
o2 have really tightened up on their offers and you won't get anything as good as you did last timeI was told that they couldn't sustain the offers which they gave out in the past.
Sorry to say but if you want the galaxy s from o2 then to get it free your monthly contract will be £40 a month on a 24 month contract. I was offered it for £35 but had to pay £50 for the handset (it might have been more actually but i can't remember now)
The internet is capped at 500mb now as well, i did have unlimited. I was also told if you go over the 500mb, which many people do, then the web browsing is cut off until the next month. You do get a warning when you've used 80% of the usage.
Good luck with your bargaining but don't expect too much. Have a look at the o2 deals on their website as that is roughly what you'll be offered but maybe with a £5 discount if you push hard and a little bit off the handset. Gone are the days of loyalty and getting better deals from o2 retentions.
I'm getting my pac code tomorrow and will be off elsewhere.0 -
I have:
18 month contract ending in 30 days (£20/month).
Nokia 5800
600 Mins
1200 texts
Unlimited Data
Home Broadband
Also a 600 min/1200 texts/ u/l landline Simplicity Sim on a rolling contract for £20/month for my OH.
Phoned Retentions on Sunday and Yesterday but did not get anywhere with them.
1 have changed the Simplicity Sim to a 12 month contract which will reduce the cost to the normal £15 - that will also enable me to continue to get the normal discount for Broadband.
I have got my PAC for my contract phone and will either be getting a new phone contract with TMobile via one of the on-line discount companies (with auto cashback) or I may go for the Tesco £10 Sim only deal.
Does anyone know if the Tesco deal has a closing date?0 -
EDIT: Just rang back retentions, spoke to someone else and said the £20 month has now expired and I'm paying £35. Duff info from the 1st person GROWL
THey cant charge you more if it ended as your still on it,
Im on somewhat the same deal 800mins 1500txt ult net, 20£ sim only,
contract is up but i was told the same cant offer me anything better
now this might be a blag because the home net is linked to the contract for 5£ discount, = just a idea.
On the other hand no network offering much, i think they all stepped back on the deals,0 -
No, your loyalty discount is for the minimum term only. I was on 600 min/1000sms/data paying £20. They switched it straight over to £35 once 18 months were up...didn't even wait for billing date!
Changed it over to £10 100 min/sms tarrif so I could reduce cost of notice period, then switched to Tesco deal.
Btw, they will issue PAC and change tarrif at the same time.0 -
Just come off the phone from retentions and this is the deal I have been offered
Either
£29 a month for a HTC Desire with 300 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb data (said this was poor given I can get a Desire on similar tariff for under £20 with cashback deals)
or sim only 12 month contract as follows
500 mins, 500 texts and 500mb data this to be shared between me and my wife who currently has O2 payg phone topping up £5-10pm
Cost would be £14.26 for me and £5 for her.
Only thing is O2 reception at home is way better than any other network, although been testing an Orange sim and it is usable, but switches from 3G to just G regularly. Would this noticeably affect data speeds?
I want a phone upgrade so it looks like I will end up leaving O2 like so many others, as sim only deal plus cost of a new phone is going work out way more expensive than a new contract with Orange.0 -
with regards to the loyalty discount, if you log in to My O2, it should tell you when your discount is running out.0
