Been on o2 for years and most of family including broadband but No discounts other than that Bonus £25 over 24 months as on web site. I have a blackberry and wanted the newer 9700 model but min I could get that was 24 months and 89.99 for phone .
Got Pac and bought 18 mth Tmobile twice the mins and data for £21.87 (after cachback ,< £30pm) and free 9700 so big bonus for me. contract expires 30th sept but got pac on 23rd so 30 days standing at full rate from 30th. will ring o2 then and downgrade package to payg or cheapest for 1 month until pac has ported me out.
Bye bye o2 was good while it lasted

Same result as most of the previous posters for me.
Called O2 today, no better deals than available on the website offered.
PAC requested and off to T-Mobile.0 -

I've just got off the phone with them. Called twice and spoke to two different staff at the retentions. Absolutely nothing in the way of inducements or even a sweetener other than what is available on the website. The first operator was quite curt, sounded as though she might be doing her nails and sounded more than happy to send me my pac #.
The second operator was a little more amicable but pointed out that she had little room to manoeuvre. Best she could do was offer a £5 discount on a £25 contract with a choice of bottom of the range handsets and less minutes than I have presently for the same outlay.
I've been with them since the BT days and otherwise I was very happy with them, sadly, it appears time to move on.0 -
Out of interest, has anyone else checked what reward level you are, before you try to upgrade/go through retentions.

I suspect the way you get treated may be determined by your level. I'm Silver.. crossing my fingers for some kind of discount again!
nb. been reading, if you've been with O2 for 5 years, you automatically become a silver customer0 -
Its a little against the grain from the general theme on this thread but i have actually just come off the phone pretty happy with my O2 retention deal on a HTC Desire. Initially when i called i spoke to a pretty unhelpful girl in upgrades who gave me the bog standard offer which was:
Desire free
Mins 900
Text unlimited
Data 750mb including wifi
Cost £40 (24mth) £45 (18mth)
Obviously not very competitive and was told that was the best they could do. I said i would shop around. Called back to give 30 day notice half an hour later after checking the T Mobile deal and was put through to disconnections where i spoke to an extremely helpful young man who gave me:
Desire free
Monthly £30
Mins 500
Text Unlimited
Data 500mb including wifi
I wasnt particularly excited by this but he then went on to advise that if i drop the wi-fi it would save me £5 a month. I started to get a little keener but then the clincher came when he volunteeered that if i was willing to pay £13 for the handset it would allow him to discount my tarrif to his maximum allowance therefore saving me a further £2 per month.
So in summary Desire £13, 500mins, unlimited text, 500mb data for £23 and i am satisfied with this although it is a 24mth contract. Could have got 18mth for an extra £5 per month but decided to go with the 24mth.0 -
asprilla - i'm much impressed with your negotiations, if i can get them to do something similar for a samsung galaxy S i'll be very impressed.
This may be stupid, but is it unlimit BT openzone wifi/cloud wifi? Surely they can't limit the use of your own wifi at home with the phone.
BTW, you may want to check you've still got 500mb data.. i thought wifi and net usage was a combined top-up0 -
Thanks Ringo, checked with O2 it defo still includes data, apparantly the data and wifi are available as seperate bolt ons.
And haha yes of course they cant limit the use of your own wifi, thanks, i have edited my post so it reads correct now
Cheers0 -
Has anyone managed to get a cheap low useage deal out of them. I would like to try and keep my £5 a month Broadband discount
Whats the best phone on the £10 24 month deal? Currently Have a Nokia 5800 if I port out and then back in again.0 -
to keep cheap broadband go pay n go i think u need to top up every 3 months to keep discount on broadband. If you dont need a handset then there best offers are on simplicity plans. But as i posted earlier I went to t-mobile new blackberry 18 month more usage than o2 offered for £21 a month after cashback on £30 a month contract. Daughter on simplicity in my name so transfered my broadband to her o2 number for discount.
So in summary I have almost the same deal as I got from o2 18 months ago with an added £1 a month = £18 more over the term.

I got offered a Vivaz at upgrade prices (£25 a month) or a X10 pro mini at upgrade prices (£30 a month). Requested my PAC. Off to Virgin X10 mini pro £20 a month and a £5 mates rates discount.
Bye Bye O20
