Downloaded 'fishtext' does the job a lot cheaper than O2. For instance international texts 14p with O2, fishtext 2p. will do me.

Thanks for the tip keltbrat but I'm not sure fishtext does exactly what we need.

Fishtext seems good if you are based in the UK and want to send texts to international numbers but like toe-jam, my family are often abroad and simply want to text home. The 4 for 1 international texts from abroad on O2 was great for this. It doesn't rely on having a data connection which is what we want. I'm not getting caught out on the international data charges and you can't always rely on getting a wifi connection abroad.

If I have misunderstood fishtext then let me know but that is what I seem to get from their website.

My old tariff is coming to an end and O2 want to take me off that and put me on a newer tariff with unlimited UK texts - don't want that at all!
  • 02's deals are down the pan again. Im basically getting offered nothing better than the online prices!! £35.00 for 18 months &£40.00 for 24 months with a smartphone at whatever the extra cost, no discount whatsoever! Im adamant about leaving 02 as i also have there broadband which for some reason i haven't been charged for in the last 3 months.

I'll have to keep trying and hope someone gives me a better deal!!

Do O2 do an MMS bundle at all?

My contract expires in just over a month and like many of you I'd rather keep the 1000 texts I have, rather than unlimited.

I currently have the £30 a month tariff, with 400 mins, 1000 texts and unlimited internet, with a £10 loyalty discount.

I presume if I wanted to stay on the same tariff it would increase to £30 per month, which is a lot without a new phone.

    Any ideas?

Log in to your myo2 and look at your bolt ons, if your loyalty discount says no end date, then you can keep going on a rolling basis with the discount, but if there is a date there it will stop on that date.

It has an end date unfortunately, but the free web bolt on has no end date.
  • Hmmm, O2 seriously aren't budging at all are they.

Its contract renewal time and they just will not offer me anymore loyalty discount/decent phone price

Think its gonna have to be phones4u or something :(
  • hi this is my first post so please bear with me everyone. and well i gota say reading this site is helpful

basically i have been with o2 on the online 40texter tarriff for about 4 yrs now which gives me 800 min+1000 txt(or250 mms)+ sat, sun, monday completely free to anynetwork. and if i do not use my allowance my minutes rolls over.
i received a letter from o2 which says they will change my contract to some simplicity 35 for smartphone which gives me 1200min unlimited txt and unlimited data.
i do not want this, i have more than very happy with my contract and happy with the price i pay. can i do anything about it any help will be very highly appreciated

What do you pay now and what would you pay on the new tariff (I assume £35)?

I know it is not the point right now, but do you ever use more than 1200 minutes a month?
  • You're well outside of any term where you would be tied to them so just ring up and speak to Retentions. Tell them if they go ahead with the threatened change to your contract then you'll take your custom elsewhere. If they refuse to budge you then have the choice of going through with your threat or just accepting that you're being done over. Personally, if they aren't accommodating then I'd leave just on principle. That's just me, though.
