I got 300mins, ult text and 500mb data with free recon 3gs 16gb for £22 pm.

I sent my 3GS back because the new unlimited texts didn't suit me, I preferred the free international ones.

They forgot to take all the discounts I negotiated off my account, and put me back on my old tariff, so now i have

600 mins 1200 sms Unlimited data and wifi, free o2 to o2 calls, free ITS and £5 a month discount. so total is £15 for sim only 1 month contract.

I've been on a £35 a month deal for coming up to 18 months now, only gone over a few times, so about £650 from me. The phone they originally gave me was LG Crystal (I've had 2 replaced on insurance but not their insurance). I think that was about £300 new at the time, so that's £350 difference. I use a hell of a lot of texts (have unlimited), and for some reason I now have unlimited internet included (it should be internet or texts). I don't use all my minutes but on average it's about 300 a month over the life of the contract

Would I be able to get say 100 minutes, unlimited (/500meg, I know they get funny about internet nowadays) and unlimited texts for £10 and then try and get unlimited o2 to o2 calls put in too? Or if they won't stick unlimited o2 to o2 get put up to 300+ minutes instead. And have that on only a 12 month deal? Don't really want another 18 month contract!

If I threatened to leave and go to giffgaff (http://giffgaff.com/index/pricing) would that work? I'm trying to make them match giffgaff and put in unlimited o2 to o2 calls, and o2 is the only network that has amazing signal at uni and in my halls (there is a mast down the road, other networks are shocking here), but giffgaff is run using o2 signal, so I could go through with it if they won't offer anything decent. Or is there something better than giffgaff offer on a rival network that I could use to bargain with them but I not actually go through with it (because of the signal issue)?

Downloaded 'fishtext' does the job a lot cheaper than O2. For instance international texts 14p with O2, fishtext 2p. will do me.

Coming to end of contract. Called retentions to notify that I want to leave. I wasn't expecting much and they didn't disappoint. Been with O2 for 5 years. offered £15 sim only deal, 300 mins and unlimited texts. with Nokia 5800 phone, £31 pm for 1100 mins. neither of interest . got my PAC and I'll be moving. Didn't see much effort from Retentions, may be they should change name of dept.

How did you get them to give you a tariff with 1000 sms instead of unlimited, were you on that tariff already ?

I have 1200 sms and if i upgrade they insist in change to the unlimited sms which means no free sms abroad and no free picture messages.
