Its because of the flabby data hungry popularity of the Iphone and pointless things like watching youtube and other pastimes on your phone. Its all putting too much strain on the networks and they need to reinvest in new data networks.

If the lean and mean Blackberry was the popular phone of the day there would be far less strain on the network.

Hi there.I am due to re-new my contract. Have been looking at the Online 30, with unlimited texts and 300 minutes, and also the web bolt on. Is the web bolt on any food? I would be using it mainly for surfing the net, ie facebook. I cant seem to find out how much data i would be able to use each month and wether this is enough for my needs?

Reading what I've read so far doesn't fill me with hope about 02.

    Let me explain.....

I am due an upgrade in Spetember after my 18 month contract finishes with them. I currently get:

    3000 minutes
Free weekend minutes on top of that (Friday midnight until Sunday midnight.)
    1000 texts
    Unlimited internet
    And I pay £45pm discounted from £75.

I currently have a dispute with 02 because my Nokia 5800 recently had the inner screen implode, and have at the moment a loan phone from them, for which I had to give a £20 deposit. (All this is done through the local 02 shop.) They have rung me to tell me that the 5800 will cost £72 to repair, and naturally I have refused to pay because there is no damage to the outer screen, yet they are insisting it's customer damage. I have also pointed out that I can buy a new phone for less than that, and why would I want to pay for a phone that's nearly at the end of the contract. Even one of their cs reps on their phone system agreed when I rung up.

Are you with me so far?

The wife is on £20pm simplicity
The daughter is on £10pm simplicity
We have our broadband with them, and the wife holds another broadband account with them for the local scout hut.

So all in all, we have 5 accounts with them.

Now they are insistent that I pay for the damaged handset, when, even by the shop assistants opinion, it's not customer damage, and he even booked it in as such.

So by reading some of the retention threads, do I tell them to stick it, and move 4 of the 5 contracts, (The daughters has just been activated last month and is the 12 month simplicity.) or do I see what they will offer me now, and then I can get rid of the 5800?

I don't want another 18 month contract, and would much prefer 12 months, but I'm guessing that they aren't going to do that.
That's my mutt in the picture above.

I have been able to upgrade through o2 for 3 months now and want a white blackberry bold 9700 - but they can only offer it in black for £30p/m, 300 minutes same as website :(. I'm on a simplicity tariff and only need to give a month's notice - should I get the white bold on o2 through carphone warehouse for £30 p/m with 600 minutes & unlimited internet (permanent unlike o2 who will only do internet free until Sept) , would anyone else be inclined to go for the CPW deal as opposed to direct from o2?

Also would there be a way for me to transfer my phone number over?

    Thanks

(Sorry if in the wrong place!)

You can upgrade with o2 via the carphone warehouse keeping your same number/sim card etc. Not sure what there deals are like compared to o2 direct though.

You'd have thought you'd get a cracking deal, but recent 'offers' suggest otherwise.

I can only suggest that you phone the retentions team and put the same points to them as you have above and say you'll cancel 4 accounts if nothing suitable is offered - be prepared to actually leave them though as most/all or the latest offers have been pants.

Just spoke to o2 retentions and got offered the following deals:

    Recon Iphone 3GS
600 minutes, unlimited texts, free o2-o2 calls, 500MB data. Free phone.
    £31pcm for 24 months
    £35pcm for 18 months

I called O2 5 times since yesterday, for reboxed Iphone 3GS

    Yesterday (14th July):
    During 7pm-8pm

I nice guy offered me a 18month contract, paying £32/mth, free reboxed Iphone 3GS
    500mins to any network
    unlimited land call
    unlimited texts
    unlimited data and wifi

I said I need to think about it and when I called again and the call was picked after 8pm, strange thing happened, the 2nd guy told me he didn't see any notes from the 1st guy and he can't do the same offer shown above, best offer he could give me is £35/month for 18months, free reboxed Iphone 3GS
    with:
    300mins to any network
    unlimited O2 to O2 calls
    unlimited texts
    unlimited data and wifi

I got really angry and argued with this guy in the call and ended in a very sick mood. So decided to fight today for the 1st offer.

Today (15th July) , I remembered if I heard any good offer, better record the staff's extension number, otherwise you might not get that again through other staffs.
2pm-3pm I spoke to ext 74xx1, she seems very nice and helpful, but for some reason, she said their system doesn't allow her to get me the 1st deal, she also said she couldn't see the 1st guy's offer, but instead she could offer me £32/mth on 18mths contract, free reboxed Iphone 3GS, with:

    500mins to any network
    unlimited O2 to O2 calls
    unlimited texts
    unlimited data and wifi

    Or pay £35/mth on 18months contract,free reboxed Iphone 3GS:
    600mins to any network
    unlimited land call
    unlimited texts
    unlimited data and wifi

I really need the land line call and thought maybe I could swap the o2-o2 bolt-on to land call after contracting
So I asked her to definitely save the 500mins deal in her notes and asked for her extension number, said I need to consult with customers services whether I can do the swap then get back to her. But after consulting this seems cannot happen, then I decided to speak to another person see whether can do the 1st offer.

Magical thing happened again, the fourth person I spoke said there's no such record in ext 74xx1's notes shown they have a 500mins offer, she seems could see who I spoke to in my record, so I beg her to transfer me to the 1st guy I spoke yesterday, but she insist saying she doesn't know this person, but she seems knows 74xx1, so she transfer my call to 74xx1 but noboday pick up for over 10mins, I really got fed up, so called again.....

Finally, the 5th person I spoke to sounds very nice, his name is Mike and his ext is 79xx8

He explains the offers they could give only valid during the call, so if you did hear any good offer better take that now than later, he tried different ways to help me fight for my 500+mins on 18months contract, and I'm looking for a tarriff with free land call, <35 deal, we finally achieved the following offer:

    £32/mth, 18months contract, with:

    600mins to any network
    unlimited land call
    unlimited texts
    unlimited data and wifi

But I need to pay £50 for the phone...which wasn't too bad, and this probably the best offer I could achieve, and really fed up of calling them so I decided to take this offer.

Forgot to say, he saw this offer just after 7pm. For whatever reason, my god feeling is their offer could change very differently, even during the same day, so try different hours and speak nicely to the staffs, you will reach the idea tariff.

Hope my experience can help you guys get better deal. BTW heard the unlimited data will become 500MB from 1st Oct for all O2 customers.

For your comparison, I was on a 18months contract with O2 on £20/month (reduced from 35 to 20) got free Nokia 5800, my old tariff was:

    600mins
    unlimited landcall
    unlimited text
    12month free home broadband
    discount on international calls

I think I called them 6 times for getting this old offer.
