I wasnt bothered about the 4G and was happy with a 3GS, currently got the 8GB 3G.
Phoned up spoke to upgrades no room for negotiation offering me the same deal as a new customer, asked to cancel went through to retentions.
Got White Iphone 3GS 16GB, 300 Mins, Unlimited text + data being reduced to 500MB later in year. Free weekend calls to any mobiles and landlines excluding 0845 numbers, for £25 per month on an 18mth contract.
Yes its a refurbed handset but it comes with 12 months warranty. So i'm more than happy with that, could of had 600 mins for £30 but I don't use that many so...
This is quite good compared to what has been offered to some on here. What tariff and how much were you on before?also how long have you been with them? You can have God without religion!0 -

It was the first phone call which i thought was good as well,
Been on the current contract 17/18 months. had a couple of year spell before that when i went to vodafone and was with o2 for a few years before that but i dont think that came into the equation.
I was on the o2 iphone 35 before, paying 35 a month for 300 mins unlimited text & data. Although i had had a few tarrifs over the 18 months as i started out with a blackberry and then switched to an iphone when i broke the blackberry part way through.
My bills averaged £40 a month, although there were a couple that were about £100 when i was abroad but mostly £35 - £40 a month.
I think I just struck lucky to be honest.0 -
The phone was free as well i didnt mention that in the first one.0

I've been offered (as I said I didn't need a new phone):
500min
Unlimited texts
500MB data
for £20 per month on a 24 month contract.
I would get a £150 bill credit as I didn't need a phone, so £13.75 over the 24 month contract.
Only problem is I really really don't want to be tied down to a 24 month contract!0 -
Looks like O2 finally realised the number of customers they're losing by not offering anything to loyal customers. Maybe we'll see more discounts like this in the future...0

When I have previously meant to upgrade, but left it a few more months because I've been too busy or forgotten etc, I have always still only been charged the lower amount, including any agreed discount. Indeed I'm pretty sure my contract now says 24 months, and a monthly price, but it doesn't say anything about that price increasing after 24 months, just that I'm 'tied in' for that period. If I do nothing when my contract expires in August, are you certain that my monthly fee will increase?
Yes it is true if you're currently getting a loyalty discount. I wasn't even aware that my contract had finished and I was paying £20 per month for the usual online £35 contract (600 minutes and 1000 texts) plus an unlimited internet bolt-on. So I got a nasty surprise when I got my bill through to see a charge for £45! I too have always just allowed it to lapse and sorted it out a couple of months later. Never had a problem before but now I'm soooooo annoyed!
After speaking to at least 3 peope at o2, I've now switched to a SIM-only deal with only £100 minutes and unlimited texcts and interneet and it's STILL £15 a month. I eventually managed to speak to someone who said they'd reimburse £15, as I wasn't told that the discount was limited for only 18 months, but made it seem like they were doing me a favour when it was o2's fault I wasn't informed in the first place!
You'd think if you stay loyal to a company (which I have been for 12 years) that they'd at least drop you an automated email to give you a heads up that your next bill would be more than double. If they had, I would've switched to simplicity or a PAYG there and then and not been lumped with this.
As soon as I get my house move out of the way, I'm definitely leaving o2. Absolutely no reason to stay, especially as I want an iPhone and their deals are pants.
BE WARNED! If you currently get a loyalty discount, make sure you renew or cancel your contract as soon as it runs out!0 -
Finally struck a deal. Funnily enough I got a better result going down their normal upgrade line, getting best deal and then being referred to Retentions afterwards.
Free O2 Dell Streak
18 months.
£35 / month.
500 minutes (300 minute tariff plus 200 extra free minutes)
Unlimited Text.
WiFi/Mobile/Web Bolt On
Free additional O2 to O2 bolton.
Happy now. Not as good a deal as my wife's but the chaps at O2 seemed to work hard to get me this deal! :money:0
