Just spoken to them. Don't think they give any deals on moving to simplicity - does anyone know different?

So it'd basically be the exact same tariffs as is on their website for moving to simplicity and wouldn't get any discount for loyalty, etc.?

    Is that correct?

If so, not really much point in staying tbh as it's the Desire I want, but without a discount on the tariff, would be much cheaper to just buy it from vodafone on an 18-month contract, rather than buying it sim-only and sticking with o2.

    Cheers,

    Graham.

If you call O2 and ask to be put on the Simplicity tariff and say you want to buy the HTC Desire outright (without committing to lengthy contract) the the cost of the phone is £285. If they tell you £370 then hang up and try again.

I have ordered this on Sunday and due delivery today. You have to be lucky who you speak to as not all advisers offer this deal. There is a big thread on HotUkDeals.

    Hope this helps.

    Hey,

Will this be the O2 version of the desire with all the o2 branding crap on it however?

That's why I don't want to get it from them, as I know how much they mess about with phones and I'm not spending that on a phone to have O2 messing with the software as usual.

    Cheers,

    Graham.

According to people who own the Desire on O2 it just has the start-up and shutdown logos. Everything else seems to be as HTC generic version. It's also unlocked.

    Hey,

That would be good news, but I really don't trust O2 these days not to make some feature unusable - they do it so often!

That'd be a price I'd be happy with if it is actually not messed about with by O2.

So does anyone get discounts on the simplicity tariffs, or is it exactly as is on the website?

    Cheers,

    Graham.

I'm not sure, I've not had the time to haggle. You could try but I doubt they'd be willing to do anything on the 30day contract, maybe 12 Month Sim Only.

I rang up Retentions last week, i'm a gold customer with 10+ years, my phone was due for renewal next month. They offered me:
    Nokia 6700 Slide
    300Mins
    unlimited o2 to 02 calls
    unlimited texts
    £15 a month on 18 month contract.

    This week i was offered
    Nokia 6700 Slide
    300Mins
    unlimited o2 to 02 calls
    unlimited texts
    £22 a month on 24 month contract.

This was the best she could offer. I said it had gone up by £7 and 6 months but that was the best offer she could do. The only difference was I mentioned i was also going to leave my broadband which is also due for renewal. Can this really make a difference? Is the top deal good?

Just phoned retentions about the HTC desire and this is what they offered me
    500 mins,unlimited texts,unlimited data,£40 for the phone 24 month contract, £30 a month.
I've been a O2 costomer for 6.5 years and I'm not sure if this is a good enough deal considering it's a 24 month contract.
Anybody had a cheaper contract than this?
