I was £18/month til Nov, then paid £35 for a couple of months (out of contract). Also went to o2 shop and CPW, making sure they had my number, and saw what deals they had (hoping it would register on their system). Also mentioned the tesco deal (which is cheaper over 18months for lightish users).

I am currently on a simplicity tariff. I want the 32gb 3gs for free on a 18 month term for 35 a month.

What will I need to say to them or any deals to arm myself with?
  • and was this a brand new Iphone 32gb 3gs?

Just phoned up this morning and the 32gb gs is now back in stock (refurb) just accepted a free white one on a £35 18month contract......well pleased!
  • Just phoned this morning and as I was only spending £20 a month for last couple of years was not expecting much in the way of deals but just got a black 32gb gs refurb for £30 on a £35 18mth contract (600mins,500txt,unlimited internet)

Just an FYI on people thinking of taking up a simplicity deal to get a cheap iPhone through retentions.

In order to get an cheaper iPhone you need to have been with 02 for 6 months. This is as the simplicity tariff is a rolling one and does not require a credit check at the start. I rang them up twice and that is the reason they gave me.
  • Just been offered this by uprgrades:

    9700 (50 for the phone)
    600mins
    1000text
    utld o2 to o2 calls
    bb bolt-on
    35 a month
    18 month contract

    and then this by retentions:

    9700 (40 for the phone)
    600mins
    1000text
    utld o2 to o2 calls
    bb bolt-on
    30 a month
    24 month contract

    Surely they can't be serious?

Going to Orange I think, just hope my PAC comes ASAP.

By the way I've been on Simplicity paying 20 a month for a year.

Was on O2 simplicity. Got 16gn 3gs recon in black for free, £35 a month for 600mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet.

Was offered 32gb for £100. I don't use my iPhone for music so the memory wasn't worth it.
  • to have a simplicity you do need to pass a credit check

I think youve got muddled. Ive been on a reduced tarrif, £15 off per month for the last two YEARS.

I have only been on simplicity for 4 months, and they said you need to have been a member for at least 6 months to get a refurbish iphone 18 month deal.

But I didn't know the simplicity required a credit check. I'll try again when my next billing cycle comes in a few days and ask astutely.
