Went for it in the end, got a reboxed 16Gb 3GS for free and £33 per month for the standard 600 mins and 500 texts.

Gutted that I couldn't get the 32Gb or the monthly tariff down lower, the advisers I spoke to said that it was to do with the budget they had to play with, prob because I have been paying £20 per month for the last 3 years or so.

Still very happy and as I type, it is "out for delivery" with DHL. Coming to Northern Ireland - that is good! Normally it takes a couple of days!

Thanks again to all for the information they shared.

bly me that is good, i was willing to pay £35 + £7.50 extra to get unlimited texts, for 2 accounts (me and the wife) but they still wanted to charge me £89 for each iphone

and we have been spending around £40 each for the past couple of years

Flip, that's strange. Would have thought they would have done something better than that?

Keep at them on the 1st and I'm sure you will get there!

I was offered the 3GS 16GB Refurb for 40 quid with 600 mins/unlimited internet/unlimited texts for 35 quid a month on an 18 month contract. Didn't take it though as I want a HTC Hero which O2 don't stock:(.

It does seem to me that O2 are keeping the prices of other handsets artificially high to peddle the Iphone- I was offered the exact same deal (minus 40 quid for the phone) for 30 quid a month with the Nokia 6700. Which is a massive rip off when you think the 6700 costs 170 quid SIM free.

I phoned up this morning and the advisor stated they were totally out of stock of the refurbs, can anyone confirm/disprove this? it was about 9am.

Im an existing iphone customer out of contract but want the new 3gs one, I was offered a sim only deal instead but vodafone are doing better ones with a £100 quidco cashback at the mo, I didnt take it though, might hang on a while but from reading this thread it seems people are still getting them offered?
  • Yeah I got the same thing this morning too....

I Have been with o2 for 4 years now. I rang up last week to upgrade to the iphone 3GS 16GB and was told to wait until today as then I would be within my last month and they could offer me the good deals, I mentioned that both Orange and O2 were doing good deals on the iphone compared to O2's deals on their website and they told me not to worry that the deals on the website were for new customers only and I would definately get a loyalty discount for my time with O2.

    I rang O2 this morning....

The lady I spoke to first offered me two deals

16GB 3GS Iphone (Refurbed) Free on a £35/contract 600 Mins 500 Texts Unlimited Web with a further £4 a month discount for the duration of the 18month contract so only £31 a month...after offering it she said however we are out of stock on refurb phones and I should ring back on Monday in the afternoon for this deal when they would have more in.

She then said I can offer you a 16GB 3GS Iphone (New) on the £35/contract same as above but without the £4 monthly discount to £31.

I said I would think about it and she said she would note the deals down on my account for when I rang back.

    I rang back...6 times!

And each time I was told if I wanted that handset I had to pay £89 for the handset and sign for 24 months at £35!!
The deal I was offered had not been added on to my account so It could not be "honoured". They tried to give me the spiel about "its because you want the iphone and its an expensive handset"

    Im sooooooo annoyed!!

*My contract expires in April - But will they be happy to upgrade me earlier? (I need more minutes and text)

Right now, I am on '"Online 25 18 Month" with "Unlimited Internet" and had "1/2 price discount for 12 months". I also got 150 pounds in credit, for no phone.

I am now looking to renew and get a simplicity deal again.

Online right now, there is a 12m contract 600m 1600txt for 20 quid.

Do you think they will offer me this with 1/2 price discount? and the 150 quid credit for no phone?

Has anyone been offered something good like this?

You won't get any discounts or resign credits with any simplicity, it's a sim only, so you don't get added resign credits. So no, they won't offer you that.. :(
